Nurse for the Oncology Department R – permanent position between Outpatient Clinic and Inpatient Ward

One of our experienced nurses is retiring, and we are therefore looking for a nurse with a start date of January 1, 2027.

Who are we?

The Oncology Department is the region's largest cancer department and treats patients from all of Region of Southern Denmark. With us you will have the opportunity to work broadly with your nursing competencies.

A large part of the work is based on relationship-building, where your communicative and pedagogical skills are crucial. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to apply your medical and technical skills in medical cancer treatment.

Your tasks in the outpatient clinic

• Inform patients about medical cancer treatment in collaboration with the physician
• Carry out complex medical cancer treatment
• Work with contact nursing and accompany the patient through the entire process
• Support and guide patients and relatives through the illness trajectory
• Participate in control rounds – independently or together with the physician

Your tasks in the inpatient ward

• Provide care during hospitalization
• Provide palliative care
• Ensure good discharge processes and continuity between sectors
• Support patients and relatives throughout the entire process

After completion of the onboarding in the outpatient clinic, and in consultation with the chief nurse, you will be trained in our inpatient ward. Thereafter you will join a rotation in which you work 8 weeks in the outpatient clinic and 4 weeks in the inpatient ward.

We are looking for a colleague who

• Is a trained nurse – preferably with an interest in or experience within oncology
• Is flexible and prepared to work in both outpatient and inpatient settings
• Has good collaboration skills and thrives in a multidisciplinary environment
• Meets patients and relatives with empathy, presence and respect
• Has strong communication skills and can convey complex knowledge in an understandable way
• Works independently, is structured and at the same time actively contributes to the community
• Has an overview and can prioritize in a daily life where pace and tasks can vary
• Assumes responsibility for both own and shared well-being and contributes to a work environment characterized by openness, humor and respect

Your working hours in the outpatient clinic

The outpatient clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There are two nurses scheduled every day until 4 p.m., who are responsible for closing the department.

Every Tuesday we stay open until 6 p.m. You will therefore on average have a shift from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every other week.

Your working hours in the inpatient ward

In the inpatient ward you will be assigned two weekend shifts and 6-8 evening/night shifts over 4 weeks.

Employment conditions

Starting point: 37 hours/week during onboarding

Possibility of reduced hours subsequently

The region is obliged to inform you of the starting salary for the position. You will be informed of base pay, centrally fixed allowances, and pension in Sundhedskartellet - collective agreement 32.17.

In addition to the starting salary, the pay may include any negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.
