About the job

Do you want to combine specialized outpatient nursing with care of inpatients? Or would you like your everyday life in the ward and immerse yourself in medical nursing for the acutely admitted patient?

In Department S at OUH we are seeking nurses for two different positions. You can apply for a combined position in our nurse-led day unit and the inpatient ward MCS or a position solely in MCS. Both options provide you with a professional and collegial community with room to learn and develop – whether you are newly graduated or experienced.

Two options for your daily routine Day unit and inpatient ward – follow the patients across settings In the combined position you work with both outpatient and inpatient patient pathways. You will have broad contact within the department and the opportunity to use and develop your competencies in two different settings.

In the day unit you will primarily meet patients with chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, liver diseases and neuroendocrine tumours. Your tasks include, among others:

  • Treatment with biological medicines.
  • Independent nursing consultations and patient education.
  • Assistance and observation after liver biopsy and ascites drainage.

In the inpatient ward you will mainly be affiliated with the medical gastroenterology specialty. Here you work with the care and treatment of inpatients and collaborate with colleagues on the patient’s overall pathway.

The position is, in principle, 37 hours per week, but other hours can be agreed. The working time is distributed with 2/3 in the day unit and 1/3 in the inpatient ward, with weekend duty every 3rd weekend.

Inpatient ward – dive into medical nursing for the acutely admitted patient With a position in the inpatient ward MCS you get your daily connection to the ward and an opportunity to build an in-depth knowledge of patient pathways, working methods and team collaboration.

MCS consists of MCS1 and MCS2 with a total of 34 beds and houses three medical specialties: endocrinology, rheumatology and medical gastroenterology. We treat patients with, among other things, diabetes and other hormonal diseases, rheumatic and connective tissue diseases as well as diseases of the liver and gastrointestinal tract.

We work in small teams and meet during the day for brief cross-sectional meetings. Here we share knowledge, coordinate tasks and help each other to ensure good patient pathways.

The position is 30–37 hours per week with weekend duty every 2nd or 3rd weekend according to your preference.

A secure start and room for professional development Regardless of which position you choose, your employment begins with a two-year education position. You will receive an individually planned introduction and onboarding programme, fixed mentors and continuous professional sparring. We prioritise time for onboarding, reflection and collaboration.

If you are newly graduated, the introduction will start from your need to become confident in the tasks and to develop your clinical competencies. If you have experience, we build on what you already can do and tailor the training to your competencies and new areas of work. There is an opportunity for courses and competence development to support your professional growth.

With us you become part of a community where we help each other, share our knowledge and have room for humor. You will encounter approachable management with a focus on well-being, working life and development.

Who are we looking for We are looking for you who want clinical nursing and to develop within the medical specialties. We emphasise that you:

  • Collaborate with patients, relatives and colleagues for good patient pathways.
  • Are curious to learn and contribute to professional sparring.
  • Contribute to a good working environment with honesty and respect.

You do not need experience from the specialties. The most important is your interest in the work and your desire to become part of our community.
