About the job

Are you passionate about the development of the youngest children, and do you know how big a difference your professionalism, your presence and your relationships make in a little one’s life? Then we would really like to meet you!

In Børnehuset Karmsten we are looking for an educator who thrives in life in the toddler room and who wants to leave their mark on the children’s daily lives together with dedicated colleagues.

For us, toddler pedagogy is much more than care and practical routines. It is about understanding the child’s perspective, creating secure relationships and giving space for curiosity, play and development. It requires professional insight, presence and an eye for the small moments that make a big difference.

With us there is room for professional depth, new ideas, laughter and play – and for developing pedagogy together.

Can you feel that this speaks to you? Then read on – perhaps it is you we look forward to welcoming to Karmsten. 💛

🏡 Who are we?

Børnehuset Karmsten is an integrated private day care facility in Ølstykke, located by a meadow with rich wildlife and grazing cows in the area. Here we have the opportunity to involve nature in the children’s everyday life and create space for both play and immersion.

As part of the Danish Daycare Institutions Association, we have the freedom to shape our own pedagogical direction – and with us there is a short path from idea to action.

We are 23 dedicated staff members caring for about 95 children in the toddler and kindergarten groups. Here you will encounter a community where professionalism and humor go hand in hand, and where the management is visible, approachable and ready for dialogue.

We share experiences, ask questions and help each other translate good ideas into qualified pedagogical practice. We believe that we learn and develop together – children and adults.

We believe that a good childhood is created by adults who both want the children and one another.

💛 Our pedagogical stance

Our pedagogical work is based on four core values: community, acknowledgment, care and security. They should be felt in the children’s daily lives, in our meeting with the parents, and in the collaboration among us adults.

We see each child as unique and work purposefully to create safe communities where children feel seen, understood and as a meaningful part of the whole.

We believe that the relationship is crucial for the child’s well-being and development, and that we adults are responsible for the interaction. It obliges us to be curious about the child’s signals, our own approach and the significance of our actions for the child’s ability to participate, learn and develop.

We take our starting point in the curriculum themes and translate them into lively practice through play, curiosity and meaningful learning environments. We are focused on the small moments when a child takes initiative, seeks contact, explores something new or needs help to find calm and join the community.

Parents are important partners. Through open and trusting dialogue, we become wiser together about the child’s perspective and can create coherence between the child’s home and day care.

We prioritize professional reflection and dialogue because we want to develop our practice and become even better at supporting the individual child and the child group as a whole.

👶 About the position

You will become part of our toddler group, where you, together with your colleagues, create a daily life with security, presence, play and development opportunities for the youngest children.

You will play an important role in the pedagogical work – from close relationships and spontaneous play to planning, activities, evaluation, parent collaboration and professional reflections.

We hope that you come with curiosity about the children’s perspectives, a desire to bring your professional knowledge into play and willingness to contribute to the development of our shared practice.
