About the job

Would you like to be the adult who creates participation opportunities, strengthens the sense of community and makes a positive difference in the children's everyday life?

At Sæby School we believe in the value of the local public school and work every day so that all children thrive, develop and feel that they belong.

We are seeking a pedagogical employee for a permanent position of 30 hours per week with a start date of 1 December 2026 or by agreement.

With us you will become part of a workplace with engaged colleagues, a strong cross-disciplinary collaboration, good camaraderie and an informal tone where humour is an important part of job satisfaction.

You can be a trained educator, pedagogical assistant or have relevant experience as a pedagogy assistant. We place particular emphasis on your relational skills, your engagement and your desire to actively contribute to everyday life.

About the position

As a pedagogical employee you will be part of the children's daily life in both the school and the after-school program (SFO). In the school section you will participate in the collaboration around a year group in the lower grades, where you, together with teachers and other staff, work to create good conditions for the children's well-being, development, participation and learning.

In the SFO you will be part of an engaged team that works to create a safe, exciting and coherent everyday life for the children. You will help plan and carry out activities, but at least as important you must be able to seize the opportunities that arise in daily life and be present in your relationship with the children.

We emphasize movement, play, creativity and active communities. Therefore, it is advantageous if you have particular interests or competences you would like to bring into play with the children. For example within sport, outdoor life, music, workshop, creative activities or something entirely different.

About Sæby School

Sæby School is a department of Sydskolen with about 330 pupils from 0th to 4th grade and about 230 children attached to the after-school program. We are surrounded by forest, beach and good outdoor areas, which we actively use in both school and leisure time, and we have good facilities that support a varied everyday life for the children.

We are a school that

  • has a good sense of togetherness, an informal tone and sees humour as an important part of job satisfaction
  • values collaboration between teachers, pedagogues and other pedagogical staff
  • believes that strong relationships are the foundation for children's well-being and development
  • works purposefully to create participation opportunities for all children
  • sees well-being as a prerequisite for learning

Our shared view of children is

"Children do well—within the circumstances and environments they are in."

That means we meet the children where they are, are curious about their perspectives and take joint responsibility to create the framework where each child can succeed and feel themselves to be a valuable part of the community.

We are looking for a colleague who

  • has an appreciative and inclusive approach to working with children
  • is relationship-focused and committed to creating safe communities
  • can think creatively and create developing communities for all children
  • thrives in close collaboration with colleagues and parents
  • meets children and colleagues with curiosity, engagement, energy and a good mood
