About the job

The position is a full-time position, preferably starting on 1 November 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Is your child and life view founded on a belief that ‘ all children do well if they can ’? Is your approach to collaboration with your colleagues that ‘ no one should be left alone with a pedagogical challenge ’, and that ‘ all children are our children ’?

Then you might be exactly the person we need as an educational assistant in our special department.

Jetsmark School is a school on two sites. Our special department is located on Skolevej in Kaas, while the general school is a little over a kilometer away on Jetsmark Kirkevej.

The special department is Jammerbugt Municipality’s offering to students with major learning difficulties, physical and mental disabilities. In the school part we have children from 0th to 10th grade, while we offer after-school care (SFO) for children from 0–7th grade. We currently have 36 children distributed over 5 groups.

We are looking for a person who has a good heart, is caring and patient and is willing to seek insight and show tolerance towards the special group of children who have their daily life with us. The relational aspect has an extra dimension in our special department because our children are vulnerable to changes and have a great need for routines and familiarity.

The pedagogy is fundamentally appreciative and resource-oriented and is based to a large extent on structure, fixed routines and individual action plans.

We support and actively seek our children’s successes and victories on the road to achieving the greatest possible quality of life. Therefore we have a strong focus on supporting our children to learn to manage daily practical and personal tasks on their own.

A close and committed teamwork is therefore a fundamental framework for succeeding with our children. We expect you to join a professional learning and work community with colleagues in the department; teachers, pedagogues, teaching assistants and pedagogical assistants.

Our children have mental and physical handicaps, which means they need personal assistance and care in daily life. We expect you to perform care tasks; e.g., help with eating, diaper changes, toilet visits, transfers and getting into a wheelchair, etc.

We expect that you

  • have very good abilities to build relationships with other people
  • are physically and mentally robust
  • are caring and patient
  • have the ability to see the children's/young people’s competencies and focus on starting from the individual’s development and well-being
  • are stable in attendance and collaboration
  • are a positive role model
  • are clear so that children can read your mood in voice and facial expression
  • are open to and willing to contribute to close collaboration
  • contribute with joy and positive energy in parental collaboration and in cooperation with colleagues and management

We offer

  • an department with currently 36 fantastic children and young people
  • an exciting workplace with competent and engaged colleagues
  • a really good parent collaboration
  • sparring and collaboration with PPR, occupational therapists and physiotherapists and other external professional groups
  • guidance and help from colleagues and management as well as ongoing team supervision with an external consultant
  • frame around team collaboration: for both the classroom team and the overall pedagogical staff group

Application deadline

Deadline is Monday 19 October 2026 at 12:00. We expect to hold interviews on Wednesday 28 October 2026 from 15:00.
