Pedagogical assistant for Melius Husene – do you have calm, energy and the desire to roll up your sleeves?

Melius Houses have welcomed new residents, and therefore we need more good hands in our two houses.

We are looking for a pedagogical assistant who thrives in an active workday, can take responsibility, and wants to work closely with people who need support, structure and presence in everyday life.

You do not need to be a trained pedagogue. However, you should have relevant experience, be confident in yourself, and want to commit yourself to the work.

Who are Melius Houses?

Melius Houses is a small residential facility consisting of two houses. We work with residents who have different and individual support needs, and our starting point is that the resident should be at the center of the effort we provide.

We want to create home rather than institutions. Therefore, we emphasize closeness, homely surroundings, and a daily life where there is room for the individual.

We are a place with a strong pedagogical professionalism, but also with room to grow. We believe that professionalism develops when we dare to talk to each other, be curious and listen to those who are close to the residents in everyday life.

With us there should be room for pedagogical input and new ideas. At the same time we stand together in the common direction regarding the individual resident.

We are not a large organization where there is a long distance from idea to action. We want to be close to both residents and employees and create a place where people know each other and take responsibility for the shared daily life.

You must be able to be there for another person

The work is largely about relationships.

Some of our residents need a staff member close by for large parts of the day. It requires that you can be calm, clear and present – also when things do not go exactly as planned.

You should be able to take the initiative for a walk, a drive, training, activities or something else that makes sense for the individual. Other times it is about winding down, creating calm and just being present.

We are looking for you who have natural initiative, but who also understand that care can be about giving another person time and space.

Here everyone takes part

We live and work in home-like surroundings, and therefore practical tasks are a natural part of the workday.

There should be cooking, shopping, tidying up, laundry and taking care of the small and large things that make a home function. If you see something that needs to be done, we expect you to roll up your sleeves.

A workday can therefore consist of pedagogical interaction, a trip out of the house, practical tasks and the unforeseen situations that arise along the way.

That blend is exactly what everyday life is like with us.

You do not need to know it all

We already have a strong professionalism in the houses. You will work together with experienced staff, and there is the opportunity for sparring and to develop yourself along the way.

We are especially looking for you who

• has relevant experience from, for example, residential facilities, the special needs field, psychiatry or similar
• are confident in yourself and can remain calm
• meet the residents respectfully and at eye level
• can be firm without being harsh
• have humor, energy and commitment
• take initiative and see where a hand is needed
• are not afraid of practical tasks
• can follow the professional direction around the resident
• take responsibility for your shifts, your tasks and your colleagues.

We are in the process of building something up

With new residents in the houses come new relationships, new routines and new opportunities.

We need staff who want to be part of that process.

There is room to grow here. If you have an idea for an activity, you see something that could be done differently, or you have a good input for daily life, we would like to hear it.

For us, it ultimately comes down to something quite fundamental: to create a home where residents experience care, presence and security – and have people around them who truly want to be there.
