About the job

Do you want to help create more healthy and safe working lives in Denmark? Are you an experienced leader who can drive the strategic development of the Danish Working Environment Authority's communications and guidance efforts? Then the position as Office Chief for the Danish Working Environment Authority's Office of Communications and Press might be something for you.

Responsibility to create more good working lives More than 3 million people are employed in Denmark. What they have in common is that they must have a safe and healthy working life. This is what the Danish Working Environment Authority works to promote every day. We do this by contributing to the development of regulations in the area, so that they are up-to-date and in step with society's technical and social development. And we supervise the workplaces where the risk of occupational health and safety problems is greatest, and we intervene when rules are violated.

The Danish Working Environment Authority also has responsibility to advise managers, employees, occupational health and safety organizations and consumers on how they can prevent occupational health problems and create a healthy and safe working life.

You will be responsible for driving and developing the Authority's communications and guidance efforts so that knowledge is translated into action in the workplaces. This includes guidance on rules, prevention of occupational health problems and the promotion of health and well-being at the workplaces.

You will be responsible for developing a cohesive channel strategy for the Authority's external communication and guidance and for developing everything from campaigns to digital solutions that support occupational safety work at workplaces.

Leadership of a dynamic work community Your primary task will be to create the framework for a strong workplace community where communications professionalism and occupational safety professionalism go hand in hand. You do this by translating high-level strategic goals into concrete actions and results and by creating a daily work environment where employees thrive in a development-oriented environment with many balls in the air.

You will become responsible for the staff of the office's approximately 15 skilled employees. They have different competencies in areas such as communications, journalism, graphic design and digital development, and they work on solutions within press and communications- and guidance in close collaboration with the Authority's other units.

The tasks range from running and developing the Authority's websites and profiles on social media, campaigns and larger communications initiatives, newsletters to 1:1 communication. The office also develops self-service solutions, tools and guides. In addition, the office creates and adapts content, methods and tools for all of AT's guidance efforts such as webinars, dialogue meetings, teaching courses and inspection visits.

The office also runs the Working Environment Authority's intranet and employer branding efforts.

The office collaborates with all parts of the organization – from specialists in both psychological and physical work environment to inspectors who visit companies around the country every day. The office also has many tasks involving close dialogue with various external partners, e.g. the Industry Communities for Occupational Health and Safety.

You will become part of the management group in the Occupational Health Center, where tasks are carried out closely together and where there is a strong focus on leadership development and the sense of community in the group. For personnel matters you will report to one of the Authority's two deputy directors, but you will work closely with both.

About you. You have a strong leadership profile and can create a positive working environment, job satisfaction and results through a motivating and appreciative leadership style. You have authority and can communicate clearly about objectives, expectations and decisions as well as garner support.

In addition, we envisage that you

  • Have management experience and be able to create results through a motivating, appreciative and results-oriented leadership style
  • Have experience in operating in areas with high political attention
  • Have worked with strategic communication and have experience producing content for different audiences and channels
  • Can operationalize and execute decisions and ensure high quality in both operational and development tasks
  • Can build good collaborative relationships both internally and externally, participate in leadership team collaboration and contribute to developing the office and the Authority’s overall task solution
  • Have a relevant academic education, preferably supplemented with a leadership qualification.

Salary and employment terms The position is full-time. We would like you to start on 1 January 2027.

You will be employed under the framework agreement for contract employment of heads in the state with a salary in pay grade 1 (salary frame 37). Employment is generally on a fixed-term basis for a 5-year period. There is an opportunity to negotiate a qualification allowance. If you are already a civil servant, employment may be as a civil servant.

It is a condition of employment that you can obtain and subsequently maintain security clearance for the duration of your employment.

A personality profile test is included in the hiring process.
