Do you want to help solve some of the most pressing climate challenges – and see your work make a real difference for people, cities and nature? We are seeking project engineers in hydraulic modelling who will help develop the solutions of the future for water and climate.
Climate change places us as a society facing some of the most complex and crucial challenges of our time. More intense rainfall events, rising groundwater and longer heat periods push our existing infrastructure and demand new solutions that protect people, buildings and nature – and at the same time create value for future generations.
In the Water & Climate department we work across disciplines to develop and implement holistic solutions. We design rainwater and wastewater systems, flood-proof urban areas and design LAR solutions that handle water while considering urban life, biodiversity and aesthetics.
We solve tasks across the country for municipalities, utilities and development companies. Through integrated advisory work we collaborate across infrastructure, construction and architecture. We advise throughout the process from planning and design to supervision and project management, and offer the right competencies and expertise for any project – all to create more value for our customers.
As part of our department you will help model and analyze drainage systems – one of the most central tools in future climate adaptation. Through hydraulic modelling you help understand how water moves in urban infrastructure, and how we can create systems that are robust, efficient and future-proof. Your calculations and models form the basis for decisions that protect homes, businesses and critical infrastructure from floods and damage. In this position you will be able to see your impact: in city spaces that can withstand cloudbursts, in nature that thrives, and in people who can feel secure.
About the position
As a project engineer within hydraulic modelling you will be part of a professionally strong environment. You will play a central role in planning and developing drainage systems and climate adaptation projects. In the role you will both dive into the hydraulic models and translate complex results into clear recommendations that create value for customers and partners. As a consultant you will work closely with municipalities, utilities and private actors and thrive in the role of a trusted advisor who balances professionalism, collaboration and client dialogue. Your main tasks will be:
- Planning and climate-proofing drainage systems with a focus on the interplay between authority processing, hydraulic verification, constructibility and future operation.
- Preparation of authority applications, wastewater plans and discharge permits in close dialogue with relevant stakeholders.
- Hydraulic modelling of drainage systems in MIKE Urban, including setup and use of both detailed and simplified models at local and regional scales.
- Planning and sizing of LAR solutions in connection with urban renewal and development projects.
- Contributing to cross-disciplinary projects where technical, regulatory and operational considerations must be integrated into sustainable holistic solutions.
About you
You thrive in the role of advisor who can combine technical expertise with clear communication and a trusting dialogue with customers and partners. You are analytical and structured, but at the same time curious and solution-oriented – and you understand the value of communicating complex technical issues in a way that creates insight and decision-making power. As a person you work independently, take responsibility and actively contribute to a collaborative and professionally ambitious environment. We imagine that you have:
- A degree as a civil or structural engineer within environment, water, climate adaptation or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with hydraulic modelling of drainage systems – preferably with MIKE Urban as the primary tool.
- Experience with planning tasks, e.g. wastewater plans, climate adaptation or LAR solutions.
- Knowledge of Scalgo calculations or other tools for mapping and risk assessment.
- The ability to take professional leadership in projects and drive tasks from analysis to advisory.
- An understanding of balancing the customer’s needs, technical solutions and business considerations.
