About the job

About the job

Do you want to help strengthen health, well-being and communities through close collaboration with the area’s residents and local actors?

We are seeking a committed and proactive health and well-being officer who will help develop and anchor health- and community-promoting initiatives close to residents’ daily lives. The position is part of the housing-social initiative in Frydenlund, Charlottehøj and Vandtårnsområdet and is established in close collaboration with Folkesundhed Aarhus in FrydenlundHUSET.

As a health and well-being officer you will be a central driving force in the work to promote physical, mental and social health among the area’s residents. You will help create strong local communities and bridge between residents and existing health, leisure and community offerings. The focus of the initiative will be to promote health equity in close collaboration with the area’s residents and local partners.

As a health and well-being officer you – based on a broad and positive health concept – will be responsible for facilitating and implementing health-promoting and community-building activities in collaboration with residents, colleagues and civil society actors.

You will share responsibility for the following initiatives

  • Outreach health initiatives with a particular focus on residents who use social and health-promoting services to a lesser extent. As a health and well-being officer you should contribute with knowledge about health-promoting and preventive initiatives, strengthen residents’ opportunities to participate in local communities and support well-being-promoting activities in the housing area. You should bridge the gap between residents, local communities and the established local health offerings with the aim of promoting both physical and mental health, preventing loneliness and strengthening attachment to local networks. The initiative is carried out in close cooperation with the housing-social volunteer coordinator, housing-social custodian and colleagues in Folkesundhed Aarhus.
  • Family initiatives: The aim is to strengthen families’ well-being, empowerment and life opportunities and to support parents in creating good frameworks for their children’s development, learning and participation in communities. The task includes family programs and a toddler café. The initiative is carried out in close collaboration with the housing-social family coordinator, colleagues in Folkesundhed Aarhus and other relevant municipal partners with a view to increasing children’s and youths’ life chances.
  • Health and employment: You will work in close collaboration with the forward-placed staff from Job Aarhus and the housing-social staff to identify and address health-, social- and well-being-related barriers that can hinder employment or education. Based on residents’ resources and needs you contribute to developing and implementing initiatives that strengthen their opportunities to approach the labor market and achieve a more stable attachment to employment or education.

As a health and well-being officer you are thus both activity officer, bridge-builder and facilitator, and you will work with a broad target group across housing areas. In collaboration with your housing-social colleagues you are also involved in initiating larger community-building activities such as a summer party, communal meals, Eid celebration, etc.

You will have a local workplace in both Frydenlund and Vandtårnsområdet together with the other housing-social staff. At the same time you are affiliated with Folkesundhed Aarhus in FrydenlundHUSET, where you also have a fixed office space. Formally you are employed by Folkesundhed Aarhus, which has the overall employer responsibility. Management is handled by a leadership team consisting of the housing-social leader and the head of Folkesundhed Aarhus, FrydenlundHUSET.

Working hours will as a rule lie within normal working hours, but you should expect that there will in periods be both evening and weekend work.

The position is temporary and is intended to start 01.01.27; and run thereafter for 4 years.

Candidate profile

You are passionate about health, communities and about creating change together with the people involved. You have experience with health-promoting initiatives, preferably in a housing-social or cross-sectoral environment. You have a relevant social- or health-professional education and can navigate the tension between residents, municipal partners and civil society organizations.

We imagine that you

  • Have a health- or social-science or similarly relevant education.
  • Have experience with health-promoting, preventive or community-building initiatives.
  • Have strong relational skills and the ability to build trust among people with different backgrounds.
  • Thrive in an outreach role and meet people with curiosity, respect and recognition.
  • Have experience with or an interest in co-creation, citizenship and citizen involvement.
  • Can work independently while actively engaging in cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Thrive in developing and testing new solutions.

Why you should choose us

Here you will have the opportunity to shape a new and ambitious initiative where health promotion, well-being and communities are developed close to residents’ daily lives and in strong interaction between the municipality, housing organizations, civil society and local actors. You will become part of a dynamic and cross-disciplinary team in the housing-social initiative, where health is integrated with employment, communities and social initiatives to create holistic solutions.

At the same time you will have a close link to Folkesundhed Aarhus, where you can draw on health-professional expertise, receive professional sparring and access to a wide range of health services. We offer a meaningful position with great freedom to develop activities and create local solutions together with residents and partners.

You will become part of a work place with high ambitions for well-being, participation and equity in health, where collaboration, professionalism and engagement go hand in hand. At the same time you will meet colleagues who prioritise helping and sparring with each other, and who value an informal tone, humor and a strong collegial community.
