About the job

Do you want authority – for real?

Then read on.

We are looking for a skilled colleague for authority in the specialized adult area. You who find it exciting to immerse yourself in the legislation, become wiser about a complex case and find solutions that are professionally and legally sound – and at the same time meaningful for the citizen it’s all about.

You don’t need to know the Social Services Act by heart. We don’t either. But you should want to find the answer, be curious about the field and not be afraid to say: "I actually don’t know – but I’ll find out."

Who are we?

In the department we are 11 caseworkers, a contract administrator and an economist – and of course our head of department.

One of our experienced caseworkers is retiring, and therefore we are looking for a new colleague to join the team.

We have different professional backgrounds, experiences and opinions. We do not always agree. Fortunately.

We use each other, discuss our cases and challenge each other’s professional judgments. Because when legislation, economy, professionalism and the citizen’s wishes must come together in a higher unity, it is nice to have sharp colleagues nearby.

Here there is room to breathe, and your colleague is close to you. We take our work seriously – ourselves not so much.

There is a lot of laughter during a workday. The humor can be dark, and both irony and sarcasm occur. It is not a requirement for employment to master any of these – but it helps if you can tolerate it.

Behind the humor lies a sense of community we are actually quite proud of. We help each other, share our knowledge and know that even the most tangled case becomes a little easier when you don’t sit with it alone.

What will you actually be doing?

Our target group is adults with significant physical and/or mental functional impairments and people in vulnerable life situations.

And there is breadth in the tasks.

We work with everything from support in own home, companionship and activity and employment services to temporary and long-term residential care. This also includes crisis centers, shelters, necessary extra costs and social free card – and of course the cases that don’t quite fit into one box.

You will have your own group of citizens to whom you are responsible. It also means that we expect you to take responsibility for planning your work and ensuring that your cases are followed up, investigated and resolved.

You follow the case all the way – from the conversation with the citizen and the professional assessment to the decision and the subsequent follow-up.

We work with VUM 2.0 as a framework for the professional assessment and use BIT (Need, Intervention and Rate) when the citizen’s needs must be translated into a concrete intervention and assessment.

In everyday life you will among other things

  • talk to citizens and uncover their wishes, resources and support needs
  • conduct social-legal assessments, set goals and make decisions
  • keep track of and follow up on your own citizen cases
  • advise and guide citizens about their options
  • collaborate with relatives, residential facilities and a wide range of internal and external partners
  • use your colleagues when a case requires more heads than one.

Some cases are relatively simple. Others require digging into the legislation, discussing the case with colleagues and perhaps rereading a policy circular once more. It’s part of authority work – and in fact something we quite like about it.

Who do we hope you are?

First and foremost you are educated social worker or social facilitator.

If you have experience from the authority area or the specialized adult area, that is certainly a plus. But we do not expect you to come in the door knowing it all.

What we do expect is that you are professionally curious, have a desire for the authority role and can take responsibility for your own cases.

We also hope that you

  • can keep an overview when the calendar hasn’t quite understood the plan you laid out
  • can express yourself clearly – both when talking to a citizen, and when writing a decision
  • dare to make a decision and stand professionally behind it
  • treat the citizen properly – even when the answer isn’t what the citizen hoped for
  • can work independently without thinking that this means you have to do everything yourself
  • are curious and dare to ask questions
  • want to contribute with both your expertise and your personality.

In other words, we are looking for a skilled colleague. Not someone who already knows everything.

What will you get in return?

Colleagues who want to help each other and the profession.

You will have a lot of autonomy, professional sparring and opportunities to develop. We will of course ensure that you receive a proper introduction to both the tasks, the systems and our way of working.

You will also have a workplace where there is room for professional discussions, deepening, coffee and a good laugh.

We cannot promise you that all your cases will be easy.

We can promise you that you will not have to solve them alone.

And then there is the flexibility …

We know that life doesn’t only take place at work.

Therefore we have a flexible workweek where you work 32 hours from Monday to Thursday. The remaining hours can be arranged flexibly.

And yes – you can also choose to accumulate all 37 hours in four days and thus take Friday off.

There is also the possibility of a fixed day for home working when tasks allow.

As a new colleague we do expect you to initially come into the office Monday to Thursday. Not because we don’t believe in home office, but because we want to get to know you – and because it is difficult to learn a new field, new systems and 12 new colleagues from the kitchen table at home.

Once you are well onboarded, you can of course make use of the options for both home working and flexible hours.
