About the job

Do you want to help set the direction? Are you interested in leadership – and in leading skilled and dedicated employees? We are looking for a Chief Bioanalyst for the HIV and Hepatitis Laboratory in the Clinical Immunology Department, OUH, with start date January 1, 2027 or by agreement.

You will get a leadership position close to both staff, operations and professional development in a highly specialized unit where expertise, research and development are part of everyday life. Your task is to create the framework for people and professionalism to succeed together. As Chief Bioanalyst you will also be part of the management of a large laboratory department, where we expect you to take responsibility for your own area and contribute to the whole – also across disciplines and organizational boundaries.

About the HIV and Hepatitis Laboratory

In the HIV and Hepatitis Laboratory, infection marker analyses for HIV, hepatitis and syphilis are performed on blood donors, tissue donors, pregnant women and patients. The laboratory uses immunochemical methods such as CMIA, ELISA and LIA for the detection of antibody/antigen, and in addition PCR techniques are used for detection of HIV RNA, HCV RNA and HBV DNA.

Most analyses are currently performed during daytime on weekdays. Donor analyses are performed in the evening shift and, in connection with holidays, there may be a need for a night shift in the department. There are 8 bioanalysts and two clinical academics in the HIV and Hepatitis Laboratory.

Your tasks include among others

  • personnel management, staff development and well-being
  • recruitment and retention
  • planning and prioritization of resources and competences
  • responsibility for safe and stable operations
  • work environment and development of a strong working community
  • quality, professional development and continuous improvements
  • implementation and anchoring of new solutions and workflows
  • support of the department's research and development activities
  • collaboration across sections, professional groups and organizational boundaries
  • contribution to the department's overall development and task fulfillment.

You will join the section management together with the one clinical academic. You bring different professional perspectives into the leadership and, together, you share responsibility for the section's overall development, while you as Chief Bioanalyst have line management of the bioanalysts in the section.

Your background

You are trained as a bioanalyst and have an interest in leadership. You have management experience or are eager to develop your leadership skills and are ready to take the next step.

We emphasize that you

  • are clear, approachable and trust-building
  • can provide direction while also giving space for the staff's professionalism
  • have a view for both people, operations, quality and development
  • can prioritize and make decisions in a complex everyday life
  • work relationally and contribute to good collaborations
  • are curious about other areas of expertise and perspectives
  • can look beyond your own area and contribute to the overall department
  • can maintain an overview, even when many considerations and interests are at stake
  • are eager to develop and can help translate new possibilities into practical solutions.

We offer

You will get an autonomous and versatile leadership position in a highly specialized department with dedicated and academically strong staff. You will also become part of a leadership community where we collaborate across, spar with each other and share a common ambition to create good solutions for patients and staff. You will have the opportunity to both influence the HIV and Hepatitis Laboratory and contribute to the continued development of the Clinical Immunology Department.
