About the job
The Public Prosecutor's Office by the Copenhagen Police seeks senior prosecutors for two new general advocatures with responsibility for training and local education of new prosecutors in the district.
The positions are to be filled as soon as possible.
About the positions
We are looking for you who thrive on succeeding through others and ensuring a high level of professionalism and efficiency in criminal case handling.
The positions as senior prosecutors are generalist roles where you, among other things, through training and education of new prosecutors in the district, will support the overall task execution across the office's case categories and tasks. In addition, you will handle a broad spectrum of the prosecution's criminal cases, as well as carry out quality and legality assurance in the criminal cases.
You will be placed in one of two new advocatures established in March 2026, where you will help ensure that new prosecutors get the best possible start to the work in the courts and the rest of the criminal case handling. Here you will join a team of senior and specialist prosecutors who are responsible for ensuring that there is a usable, structured training and education program for new prosecutors in the district.
As part of the team you will, among other things, have to
- receive new prosecutors,
- be a mentor to several prosecutor's assistants,
- plan the introductory program, training and local education for new prosecutors,
- teach about legal and practical topics within legal work and written criminal case handling,
- bring new prosecutors to court,
- contribute to assessments of the new prosecutors' suitability and help ensure the right development for each prosecutor's assistant, and
- evaluate and further develop the introductory, training and education programs.
In addition, you will, to some extent, provide professional leadership by quality- and legality-safeguarding younger prosecutors' handling of criminal cases. Furthermore, there will be some opportunity to perform operational tasks by referring and distributing tasks to younger prosecutors in collaboration with the operations manager and the head of the advocature.
Finally, you will to some extent also draft criminal cases and appear in court, including in larger and more difficult cases that are anchored in the advocature you are placed in.
You
You are a trained lawyer (cand.jur.). The position will primarily be relevant for lawyers who have completed the prosecution's basic education and rotation program. If you have gained comparable competencies through other work experience to independently handle the prosecution's criminal cases, you are also welcome to apply.
In addition, we expect that you
- have a high professional level and can translate independent professional knowledge into good results,
- have solid experience with handling criminal cases,
- have broad knowledge of criminal law and criminal procedure,
- have impact and communicate clearly,
- have a secure eye for quality and legality assurance,
- have strong execution capabilities and a sense for finding the right balance between thoroughness and efficiency,
- can make decisions that promote efficiency and quality in case handling,
- thrive on building relationships and giving others feedback,
- are able to be an important role model and sparring partner – both internally in the prosecution service and in collaboration with the police and external parties, and
- can maintain an overview and have good collaboration skills with a focus on the whole.
Us
We offer a good and flexible workplace with exciting and challenging tasks. A workplace with good colleagues and opportunities to sharpen your professional and personal competences in areas such as collaboration, communication and professional leadership.
In the advocatures there is accessible leadership as well as an informal and respectful tone. We have a good community where there is a high level of trust in the individual. At the same time, we value job satisfaction, motivation and well-being and are committed to ensuring that flexibility goes both ways, so that there is flexibility from the employees' side when criminal cases require it, and flexibility from the workplace when there is room for home working and for a rich private life where one can also nurture private relationships and interests.
Salary and terms of employment
You will as a starting point be salary-placed as a clerk with available allowances under the state civil service collective agreement for academics. If you have completed the prosecution's basic education, you will be awarded an allowance applicable in the Ministry of Justice's area according to the Academic Agreement's annex regarding overview of allowances and special provisions (basic training allowance).
If you have a minimum of five years' seniority, completed the rotation and in total have held three different jobs or positions, you will also be rewarded with an allowance under the same annex (rotation allowance). Placement and any other allowances are negotiated via the trade union representative.
Depending on experience and competencies you may be placed as a special consultant under the Academic Agreement's annex on a protocol for special consultants and chief consultants on the new pay scale. Placement and any other allowances are negotiated individually.
You will also participate in the prosecution's on-call duty scheme.
The position's area of employment is the Ministry of Justice with its associated institutions. If you are already employed within the Ministry of Justice's employment area, a move to this position will be a transfer within your employment area.
You must be able to obtain the necessary security clearance for the position – normally up to the classification level Secret. You may be required to perform functions where security clearance to a higher classification level is necessary. Employment in the police and the prosecution is conditional on your ability to at all times maintain the necessary security clearance.
Your workplace will be the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Copenhagen Police, Unit for General Cases, Vestre Teglgade 9, 2450 Copenhagen S.
