About the job

Would you like to make a difference for women and children at Svendborg Crisis Center?

We are seeking a social-work professional for a 27-hour-per-week position.

Do you want a daily life where you use your professional skills, create good experiences for women and children, and help daily life run smoothly?

Then you are the one we are looking for at Svendborg Crisis Center.

We are looking for an engaged, caring and practically oriented colleague who wants to become part of our small crisis center.

With us, days are different. Some days are about conversations, support and guidance. Others about activities, community and the practical tasks that help create a safe and pleasant home for women and children.

We help each other and share the tasks.

About Svendborg Crisis Center

Svendborg Crisis Center is a small crisis center with space for 7 women and their accompanying children.

We offer temporary residence under the Social Services Act § 109 to women who have experienced violence or threats of violence in close relationships.

We work to create safe and homely settings where women and children receive support, care and the opportunity to regain their footing.

We are a small staff group working closely together. With us there is not far from idea to action, and we emphasize professionalism, presence, humor and good collaboration.

About the position

The position is 27 hours per week and includes a combination of social-work, activities for women and children and practical tasks in the house.

You will be part of the daily support to the women and their children. You must be able to build good relationships, be present and have an eye for what each person needs.

You should also be willing to take the initiative for activities that create community, good experiences and small breaks from the difficult things the women and children are facing.

At the same time you will help to keep the house and ensure that the crisis center is a nice and safe place to be.

Your tasks will include;

Social-work with women and children

  • Support, advise and guide the women in their daily lives.
  • Create safe and trusting relationships with both women and children.
  • Have an eye for the wellbeing, needs and reactions of the women and children to violence.
  • Participate in conversations and the daily social-work tasks.
  • Help the women create structure, overview and direction in their situation.
  • Contribute to documentation, observations and professional assessments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and relevant partners.

Activities and community

  • Plan and carry out activities for both women and children.
  • Create cozy, creative and meaningful activities in everyday life.
  • Take initiative for trips, movement, play and shared experiences.
  • Contribute to traditions, holidays and events in the house.
  • Support the community among the women and create opportunities for good experiences between mothers and children.
  • Be curious about the women’s and children's wishes and involve them in the activities.

Practical tasks and responsibility for the house

  • Be part of keeping the house clean, neat and inviting.
  • Participate in cleaning, tidying and preparing rooms.
  • Help with lighter maintenance and practical tasks both indoors and outdoors.
  • Involve the women and children in everyday shared tasks.
  • Take initiative and responsibility for the things that need to be done so the house functions well.

With us it is natural that we all help out. This means that you must be able to hold a professional conversation, initiate an activity and tackle the practical tasks.

Who are you?

We imagine that you have a social-work education, e.g. as a pedagogue or social worker, etc.

It is an advantage if you have experience working with vulnerable women, children and families or knowledge of violence in close relationships.

We emphasize that you

  • Are present, caring and good at building relationships.
  • Want to work with both women and children.
  • Can take initiative and create activities and community.
  • Are practically minded and naturally take part in the house’s tasks.
  • Can work independently and at the same time thrive in a small team.
  • Are flexible and can maintain an overview when daily life changes.
  • Have good collaboration skills and contribute to a good working environment.
  • Can document your social-work tasks.
  • Are keen to develop professionally and be an active part of everyday life.

We are not looking for someone who only wants to work with conversations or activities. We are looking for a colleague who wants it all and can see the value in both the professional work, the community and the practical tasks.

What do we offer?

At Svendborg Crisis Center you will become part of a small and engaged staff group where we know each other and help each other.

We offer

  • A meaningful job with women and children.
  • A diverse everyday life with room for both professionalism and creativity.
  • Opportunity to put your own mark on activities and daily life.
  • Close collaboration with colleagues and the daily manager.
  • Professional sparring, supervision and skills development.
  • An work environment with room for humor, diversity and good ideas.
  • A workplace where we share the tasks.

We believe that a good work environment is created together, and that we succeed best when we use each other’s competencies and help each other in everyday life.
