Are you a trained pedagogue, and do you have experience working with children, possibly in a special pedagogical context? Do you know or are you open to parental collaboration? And can you collaborate humbly and respectfully with the parents? Then you might be the colleague we’re looking for!

Special Kindergarten Solsikken in Aarup is looking for an engaged and capable pedagogue who, based on the children’s individual needs and action plans, can contribute to creating meaningful learning environments and inclusive communities. We are looking for a colleague who can combine structure with flexibility, and who with professional reflection and collaboration skills can help further develop our specialized offerings.

The position is 37 hours per week, and it is a maternity cover for an expected 1 year with start date on December 1, 2026.

About the job

At Solsikken, the most important prerequisites are that you want to develop yourself and your practice in step with encountering new challenges and gaining new knowledge. At Solsikken we focus on our own nervous system and stance, and the work calls for good empathy and collaboration skills. We prioritize playful interaction in the presence of the children.

The position is suitable for you who have experience and want to switch fields, and for you who are newly trained or about to be, and perhaps have had a taste of the special education field in practice. Our legal framework is Barnets lov §82-83 as well as the Daycare Act and the strengthened pedagogical curriculum.

Opening hours in Solsikken are 7:30–15:30. In addition, there are department meetings about once a month until 18:30.

Solsikken is located in Børnehuset Møllebakken, which houses the Solsikken Special Kindergarten with 22 children aged 0-6 years with physical and/or mental developmental handicaps and the Solstrålen nursery with 30 children. Børnehuset Møllebakken is part of the area institution Dagtilbuddene in the Aarup area, which also includes 2 kindergarten groups and the day care in Aarup. Solsikken is an integrated part of the area institution with cross-department collaboration as well as participation in two annual joint meetings, pedagogical day and staff party.

It is easy to get to and from Aarup by car, bus and train, as Møllebakken is within walking distance of the stop and train station.

In Solsikken we establish kindergarten life with community and learning based on the children’s individual action plans. The children have very different needs, and we support development with a recognizable everyday life with many good experiences in the children’s community. The staff group is multidisciplinary, so in addition to pedagogues there are two occupational therapists and a physiotherapist employed. There is opportunity for sparring both internally and externally with supervisor and the Solsikken team from PPR.

Solsikken has very good facilities with a new extension that has been built specifically to reduce disruptions and create an overview in the framework. In addition, we have a challenging playground, warm-water pool, bright and cozy rooms, and our own minibus. We use the local area with forest, stream and shops for weekly trips.

The target group for Solsikken is very diverse and includes children with psychosocial difficulties and children with reduced physical and/or mental functional ability as well as pervasive developmental disorders within the autism spectrum. Our children are distributed in 4 very different groups with regard to the child’s needs and abilities. We have a strong focus on what the child community can offer the individual, and what the individual can contribute to the community. We have the opportunity for close collaboration with mainstream kindergarten when it makes sense.
