The position is to be filled from 1 January 2027 or according to agreement.

In the department we are 7 consultants in addition to the chief physician, as well as a varying number of training physicians in both introductory and main training posts.

The diagnostic functions are performed in close collaboration with the clinical departments and good internal sparring among the employed consultants, each of whom is subspecialized within the organ areas of skin, breast, ear-nose-throat (including jaw surgery special specimens), gastroenterology, gynecology including cervical cytology and urology. The annual production is about 25,000 histological and 20,000 cytological samples.

The department is characterized by professionally engaged staff and a good working environment with a high degree of social community.

Clinical Pathological Anatomy (CPA) is organizationally placed within the Clinical Diagnostic Department (CDD) and is located in Esbjerg. The CDD is a laboratory house that brings together the specialties Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology, Pathological Anatomy and Clinical Microbiology, as well as an Infectious Hygiene unit.

We have a well-functioning laboratory, located in newly furnished, bright, friendly premises, and we have renewed our equipment park over time, which contributes to a fast and smooth workflow with a high qualitative standard. The laboratory and support functions are staffed with a chief medical biologist, 15 biosanalysts, three medical secretaries, a house assistant and two chapel attendants as well as a data scientist and system administrator.

There is a joint cross-disciplinary molecular diagnostic department consisting of 4 molecular biologists and a bioinformatician. The CDD serves the hospitals of the Region of Southern Denmark and primary care in our catchment area.

In the CDD we have a set of shared values and guiding principles , which form the framework for collaboration and the working culture in the department. These are anchored in our daily practice and support our common direction.
