Structure and calm for a creative 11-year-old girl in Vejen

Do you have experience with children with special needs – and can you create calm and clarity when emotions swing?

About the task

We are seeking a permanent staff member for a girl who loves to draw and paint, is interested in cats and spends time on YouTube. She is a cheerful girl with a highly fluctuating energy level and clear emotional swings.

She has been diagnosed with a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) and has a hypersensitive profile. This means, among other things, that she is tactilely sensitive and can react to certain materials and bodily sensations. She should not be pressured in this area. She has also had school absenteeism for an extended period and needs predictability and clear framework in her daily life.

Your task is to create safe and calm moments with coziness and companionship as well as taking her on trips outside the home. You must support her in emotional regulation and be aware of her energy level. When she becomes overwhelmed or shuts down, she needs an adult who responds calmly and curiously. Clarity, recognizable structures and clear expectations are essential in the interaction.

About you

You have experience with children or youths with developmental disorders, sensitivity or emotional swings. You understand the importance of structure and can work consciously with predictability and clear communication.

You can stay calm, even when mood changes. You know how to support a child who shuts down or becomes overwhelmed, without pressuring. You are attentive to sensory considerations and can adapt to the child’s pace.

Most importantly, you can build a trusting relationship and start from the girl’s interests.

Working hours

The working hours are allocated to

• Thursdays 14:00–17:00.
• One shift of up to 9 hours every other weekend, either Saturday or Sunday.

In the startup phase, weekend shifts can be shorter, so there is time to get to know each other and build a safe relationship before the shifts take their full length.

Outside office hours there is always a staffed duty phone, so you are never alone. Salary and pension in accordance with the Collective Agreement entered into between FOA and Dansk Erhverv. You are covered by DUOS’ liability and occupational injury insurance and health insurance is part of your pension scheme.
