About the job

Help lay the foundation for safe foods and informed consumer choices

Do you want to gain experience with authority work while contributing to tasks that matter for both consumers and businesses? You will gain insight into case processing and administration in a government agency and become part of a strong professional environment that works for safe foods and consumer information.

The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration works to ensure that consumers have access to safe foods and can make choices on an informed basis. In the Chemistry and Food Quality unit we contribute, among other things, to work on nutrients, labeling, organic farming, and chemistry in foods. As a student assistant you will become part of a unit that supports consumers, businesses and authorities through professional knowledge, administration and development of rules in the food area.

Contribute to work on nutrients and food quality

You will primarily be assigned to the nutrients team, where you support the unit's daily work. The position gives you the opportunity to build experience with case handling and authority tasks in practice and gain insight into how rules in the food sector are administered.

Your tasks will include, among other things

  • Case handling of notifications and complaints concerning fortified foods
  • Handling of notifications for, among other things, infant formula and foods for special medical purposes
  • Administrative support to the team’s tasks in areas such as dietary supplements and nutrition and health claims
  • Contribute to the ongoing handling of cases and inquiries, e.g. guidance to companies and consumers on both rules and authority recommendations
  • Occasional administrative tasks in the unit

We are looking for an engaged and curious student

You are pursuing a science-based higher education and have an interest in the food sector. You are motivated by working on tasks that contribute to safe foods and help consumers make informed choices. At the same time you thrive when working in a structured way and taking responsibility for your tasks.

We emphasize that you

  • Are proactive and curious about new tasks
  • Can maintain an overview while also focusing on the details
  • Have good collaboration skills and thrive in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Can express yourself clearly and professionally in Danish, both orally and in writing

A strong professional community

You will become part of the Chemistry and Food Quality unit with around 50 dedicated colleagues with legal or natural science backgrounds. The unit works, among other things, with nutrients, ecology, regulations for marketing, additives, pesticide residues, chemistry in foods and feed, GMOs and novel foods. At the same time, the unit contributes to cross-cutting initiatives that support the political agenda on food safety and sustainable solutions.

With us you get a versatile and independent student job with good opportunities for professional development. We have a strong professional and interdisciplinary environment and place emphasis on an informal tone of voice, where collaboration, sparring and knowledge sharing are a natural part of daily life.

Salary and terms of employment

We need you no later than November 1, 2026.

Employment is governed by the current organizational agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT staff between the Ministry of Finance and HK State.

Your weekly working hours are generally 10 hours with place of work in Glostrup.

The working hours are typically distributed over two working days by agreement. We value mutual flexibility and will, of course, take exam periods and other study commitments into account.
