About the job

Interested in a career that matters?

Are you passionate about Linux, open-source technologies, and infrastructure operations? Do you want hands-on experience managing enterprise-scale systems that support cutting-edge biotech research?

Join our Infrastructure Operations team in Lyngby and help operate and maintain a large-scale Linux environment consisting of more than 1,000 Ubuntu servers and virtual machines, a Hadoop Big Data platform, Ceph storage, HPC infrastructure, and a broad range of connected technologies. You will become part of a multicultural team with backgrounds spanning computer science and biology, united by a shared passion for technology and innovation.

The role & your impact

As a Student Assistant, you will become an important part of the system administration team, supporting the daily administration, maintenance, monitoring, and automation of our Linux-based infrastructure. This is a highly hands-on role where you will quickly gain responsibility while working closely with experienced system administrators who will support your learning and development.

Your key responsibilities in this role

  • Support administration and maintenance of Linux-based systems and services.
  • Assist with monitoring, troubleshooting, automation, and orchestration activities across our infrastructure landscape.
  • Help maintain servers, virtual machines, storage platforms, and related services while supporting documentation and operational processes.
  • Collaborate with team members on infrastructure improvements and day-to-day operations.

What you'll need to be successful in this role

  • Currently enrolled in an IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree program (e.g. DTU, KU), with a minimum of one year remaining of your studies.
  • Interest in learning new technologies and developing practical infrastructure skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
  • Good written and spoken English skills, combined with curiosity, flexibility, and a willingness to take ownership of tasks.

Additional skills & interests we value

While not required, we would be particularly interested in candidates who have experience with, or a personal interest in, Linux systems and open-source technologies. Knowledge of Python scripting and experience using Git would also be beneficial. We value curiosity about infrastructure operations, automation, cloud technologies, and data platforms, as well as an interest in high-performance computing environments and modern IT operations. These experiences and interests can help you get even more out of the role and contribute to the team's ongoing development.

What we offer you

As a Student Assistant in Infrastructure Operations, you will gain hands-on experience in a professional enterprise infrastructure environment and work across the full IT stack, from hardware and virtual machines to monitoring, automation, and orchestration. You will have the opportunity to learn from and collaborate closely with experienced Linux system administrators who are committed to supporting your development and growth.

From the beginning, you will be entrusted with meaningful responsibilities and have the chance to contribute to business-critical systems and infrastructure improvements. At the same time, you will become part of a collaborative and multicultural team, gaining unique insight into how technology enables world-class biotech research and innovation.

Working conditions

This role is primarily based on-site at the Novonesis Innovation Campus in Lyngby, near DTU, with occasional work at our site in Bagsværd. The expected workload is 10-15 hours per week and can typically be distributed across 2-5 working days, depending on your studies and team priorities. We value flexibility and understand that workloads may vary throughout the year, which is why we offer flexibility during exam periods and other study-intensive times.

As part of our Infrastructure Operations team, you will work in a collaborative, office-based environment alongside experienced system administrators and infrastructure specialists.

Application deadline: 30October 2026. Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis.
