Student Assistant (law student or merc. jur. student) for Statens Serum Institute's Department of Data Protection & Information Security – where law

In the Statens Serum Institute's Department of Data Protection & Information Security we are seeking a academically strong and curious law student who wants to contribute to translating data protection law into practice in an organization with great societal importance.

About the position

As a student assistant you will be part of a cross-disciplinary environment where lawyers and information security specialists work closely together. You will gain concrete experience in how data protection rules are applied in a complex public organization – and how the law balances the interests of the individual with the interests of society's health.

Your tasks will primarily consist of

• answering telephone and written inquiries from citizens about data protection-law related questions,
• handling cases concerning data subjects' rights under data protection rules and the disclosure of personal data,
• preparing drafts of notes, policies, procedures and material regarding supervision of data processors,
• contributing to the department's compliance work and updating internal overviews,
• handling web editorial tasks and updating information material.

You will receive thorough training, but also gradually more responsibility. The tasks are adapted to your competencies and interests, and we prioritize that our student assistants receive varied and development-enhancing tasks.

About the Department of Data Protection & Information Security

We ensure the legal and security frameworks for SSI’s handling of data – from personal data to research data and emergency information.

We solve our tasks in close collaboration with the individual departments at SSI, and we do this both through advisory work and by systematically working with compliance regarding data protection rules and international standards for information security.

Our ambition is to be a pragmatic and valued partner for the entire SSI.

Salary and terms of employment

You will be employed under the applicable agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations (OAO-S joint agreement) and the organizational agreement between the Ministry of Finance and HK/Stat for clerical staff, laboratory technicians and IT staff (HK), cf. the agreement's provisions regarding students.
