About the job

Do you want to be involved from the beginning as we build a completely new department?

It isn’t every day you get the opportunity to step into a leadership position where both the department, the organization and your own role must be shaped.

From January, the Department of Geriatric Diseases and Citizen-Centered Health will be established as a new, independent department at Zealand University Hospital with activities in Køge and Nykøbing Falster. Therefore, we are seeking a health administrative leader who wants to be involved from the very start.

You will have the line management responsibility for our health administrative staff and will at the same time be part of the secretariat function surrounding the department leadership. The role gives you a special opportunity to set the direction for the health administrative function, create good structures and workflows, and help define how the secretarial professionalism should develop in the new department.

We are looking for someone who has both a people, operations and development perspective, and who is motivated by the fact that not everything is predefined in advance.

A new department with new opportunities

The department emerges in connection with the division of the current Medical Department. You will therefore be a key person in the construction of the new organization and will be part of a close, interdisciplinary management collaboration.

At the same time, the health care system faces major changes. The upcoming health reform and the establishment of Region Østdanmark bring new tasks and forms of cooperation, and the area of Citizen-Centered Health will be an important part of the new department.

Here you will have the opportunity to help translate the changes into the concrete daily practice and to work with employees and managerial colleagues to find new solutions.

Our ambition for the health administrative area

We see the health administrative staff as an important coordinating and unifying link in the patient journey.

This applies in the inpatient wards, in outpatient clinics, and not least within Citizen-Centered Health, where patient journeys are increasingly moving toward more needs-driven and virtual treatment contacts.

This places new demands on our patient contact, care coordination, documentation and use of data. Therefore we want a leader who is curious about how secretarial professionalism can develop and contribute even more to coherent patient journeys.

You do not need to have all the answers in advance. Instead, you should be eager to ask the questions, involve the staff and together with us develop the solutions.

In the leadership team, we work closely on the department’s four strategic tracks, which are anchored in SUH's efforts:

Professionalism · Research · Flow · Community

We believe in cohesion, interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation. We dare to try new solutions, learn along the way and adjust when needed. The department’s development initiatives are based on the improvement model and are supported among other things by weekly KPI meetings.

Your role will be broad, and you will have a real opportunity to shape it

You will become the closest supervisor for 8 health administrative staff/medical secretaries.

As a leader, you must create the framework for both stable operations and professional development. You will also act as the link between the health administrative group, the ward management and the department leadership.

Your main areas of responsibility will be

Leadership and employees

You will be responsible for daily leadership, resource planning, well-being, recruitment and competence development. You will also contribute to an attractive professional environment and ensure good conditions for our SAK students.

Building a new health administrative function

You will help define workflows, collaboration interfaces, task distribution and priorities in the new department. Here, the staff’s experience and professionalism will be an important part of the development.

Secretariat function close to department leadership

You will handle coordinating and administrative tasks for the department leadership and thereby have a central position close to the department’s decisions, operations and development.

Digitization, data and new patient journeys

You contribute to the development of digital and virtual patient journeys and have a focus on registration practices, data and data governance as part of both daily operations and the department’s development.

Coherence across boundaries

You help create good transitions and collaborative relationships across disciplines, functions and sites with the patient journey as our common focal point.

Who are you?

We imagine that you have leadership experience – preferably complemented by relevant further education. You thrive in a visible leadership role and are able to navigate the crossroads between operations, leadership and administrative support functions.

We particularly emphasize that you

  • are eager to build something new and can provide direction even when not all solutions are predetermined
  • are visionary and lead development initiatives in an organizational environment characterized by change, and place emphasis on quality work and a good working environment
  • have strong communication skills, impact and an inclusive, collaborative leadership style.
  • have good collaboration skills both solo and cross-disciplinary.
  • have in-depth knowledge of the hospital’s IT systems and have experience with registration practices.
  • have talent for and preferably experience with working with data and data governance.
  • can see yourself in the hospital’s core values: Innovation, Integrity, Community and Upholding .

We offer

The opportunity to build something from the ground up

You will join at a time when the new structures and collaboration forms are taking shape. Your experience and ideas will therefore have real significance.

A leadership role with both people and influence

You will have your own group of employees while also working closely with the department leadership and being involved in organizational and strategic agendas.

A strong leadership community

You will become part of an interdisciplinary leadership team with a high level of sparring and close collaboration, including a standing weekly collaboration with the chief nurse.

A good start

You will receive a thorough onboarding process and opportunities for ongoing professional and leadership development.

An ambitious department

We want a workplace with high professional standards, curiosity and the courage to develop, while also taking care of well-being and community.

Would you like to be with us from the start?

If you are motivated to create something new together with others, and if you can see opportunities in a leadership role where operations, development, people and the secretariat function meet , we would very much like to hear from you.
