About the job
Do you want to make a difference for some of the children in Denmark who sometimes have the hardest time in life? At Fogedvænget we are looking for a dedicated nurse who will help ensure both the health care quality and the pedagogical care for our target group.
High professionalism creates a good reality for the children
Fogedvænget is a special pedagogical 24-hour unit with an internal school under the Child and Youth Home, Special Area Children and Young People (SBU). We have children and young people aged 5-17 who are all placed outside their home. What is common to the children is that they have pervasive developmental disorders, primarily with autistic features, and mental retardation. Their functional level varies, and they may have problem behaviours or outwardly reactive behaviour when they feel overwhelmed.
To create the necessary security and predictability, we work consistently with Neuroaffective Developmental Psychology (NAU), Low Arousal and LA2-U.
Your role and responsibilities
As our new nurse you will have the primary health professional responsibility on the unit. You will enter into close collaboration with our current health professional staff, with whom you share the specific health tasks. In addition to the health-professional duties, you will be a fixed part of the norming and directly participate in the daily pedagogical work. Your tasks will include, among other things:
- Primary responsibility for the unit’s health-related initiatives, medication management and documentation in Sensum1.
- Participation in the pedagogical everyday work, including concrete support for the children’s personal care tasks.
- Handling of outwardly reactive behaviour and conflict-reducing work through the Low Arousal approach.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with educators, therapists, teachers and management.
You are the right candidate for us because you
- Are a trained nurse and passionate about the specialised social area.
- Keep calm and present – even when things intensify and the children respond outwardly.
- Work in a practical, hands-on way and take pride in supporting the children with both health care and pedagogical development.
- Can take responsibility for a task and follow it through.
- Can work fixed every other weekend.
We are the right place for you because we offer
- The opportunity to solve an important societal task at one of Denmark’s most specialised offerings for children and young people.
- A thorough introduction in the first weeks with a fixed mentor scheme, thorough training and ongoing follow-up.
- A strong professional environment with focus on what we can achieve together.
- Daily management that is present, clear and on eye level.
Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment terms in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Danish Nurses’ Organization and the Danish Regions.
There will be obtained a child protection and criminal record check upon employment.
The position is on average 37 hours per week.
Practical information
- Application deadline: Sunday, 22 November 2026.
- Start date: 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible.
