About the job
Do you want to combine specialized ambulatory nursing with care of inpatients? Or would you like your daily work in the ward and dive into medical nursing for the acutely admitted patient?
At Department S at OUH we are looking for nurses for two different positions. You can apply for a combined position in our nurse-led day unit and the ward MCS, or a position solely in MCS. Both options provide you with a professional and collegial community with room to learn and develop – whether you are a recent graduate or experienced.
Two options for your everyday work
Day unit and ward – follow the patients across settings
In the combined position you work with both outpatient and inpatient patient pathways. You will have a broad contact surface in the department and the opportunity to use and develop your skills in two different settings.
In the day unit you primarily meet patients with chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, liver diseases and neuroendocrine tumors. Your tasks include among other things:
- Treatment with biological medicines.
- Independent nursing consultations and patient education.
- Assistance with and observation after liver biopsy and ascites drainage.
In the ward you will primarily be affiliated with the medical gastroenterology specialty. Here you work with care and treatment of inpatients and collaborate with colleagues on the patients' overall pathway.
The position is initially 37 hours per week, but other hours can be agreed. The working hours are distributed with 2/3 in the day unit and 1/3 in the ward, with weekend shifts every 3rd weekend.
The ward – immerse yourself in medical nursing for the acutely admitted patient
With a position in the ward MCS you gain your daily attachment to the unit and the opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of patient pathways, working methods and collaboration in the team.
MCS consists of MCS1 and MCS2 with a total of 34 beds and houses three medical specialties: endocrinology, rheumatology and medical gastroenterology. We care for patients with, among others, diabetes and other hormonal diseases, joint and connective tissue diseases as well as diseases of the liver and gastrointestinal tract.
We work in smaller teams and meet during the day for short cross-unit stand-up meetings. Here we share knowledge, coordinate tasks and help each other to ensure good patient pathways.
The position is 30–37 hours per week with weekend shifts every 2nd or 3rd weekend according to your preference.
A safe start and room for professional development
Regardless of which position you choose, your employment begins with a two-year educational position. You will receive an individually tailored introduction and onboarding program, fixed mentors and ongoing professional sparring. We prioritise time for onboarding, reflection and collaboration.
If you are a recent graduate, the introduction will be based on your need to become confident in the tasks and to develop your clinical competencies. If you have experience, we build on what you already can and tailor the onboarding to your competencies and new areas of work. There is an opportunity for courses and competence development that support your professional development.
With us you become part of a community where we help each other, share our knowledge and have room for humor. You will meet approachable leadership with a focus on well-being, work-life and development.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for you who want clinical nursing and to develop within the medical specialties. We emphasise that you:
- Collaborate with patients, relatives and colleagues on good patient pathways.
- Are curious to learn and contribute to professional sparring.
- Contribute to a good working environment with integrity and respect.
You do not need to have experience from the specialties. The most important thing is your interest in the work and your desire to become part of our community.
