About the job

Teaching Assistants for the Department of Biomedicine

Department of Biomedicine at the University of Copenhagen is seeking 2 teaching assistants, completed candidates or SUL (students) for employment February 1, 2026 with teaching within Human Biology and Pathophysiology.

About us

The Department of Biomedicine engages in research-based, clinically relevant teaching and supervision at both bachelor and master's levels across several programs at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Responsibilities

The position as a teaching assistant is a part-time position with the aim of independently handling teaching tasks or teaching that supplements instruction provided at assistant professor, lecturer, or professor level.

Specifically in this position, teaching is performed in the so-called ”cafeteria hours” on the courses ”Human Biology” and ”Pathophysiology for non-clinicians” for students from three study tracks; Public Health Science, Medicine and Technology as well as Health and Informatics. It is team-based teaching where you follow the same cohort throughout the entire course for both courses, and about once a week in 2×45 minutes students perform student-active teaching in topics that broadly span human biology and pathophysiology, but academically are not at the same in-depth level as in the medical curriculum.

The teaching is supplementary to the other teaching in the form of lectures and SAU hours.

Your competences

Both students and graduates may be considered. For graduates, the following applies

  • that you have a master's degree
  • that you have practical experience within the subject area, and
  • have strong communication/pedagogical skills.

Teaching experience in Physiology/Human Biology as well as pathophysiology is weighed particularly highly.

For students, the following applies

  • that you must be at the master's level and enrolled at a higher education institution.
  • that you have practical experience within the subject area and
  • have strong communication/pedagogical skills

For students, furthermore, the appointment ends when your enrollment is terminated.

Employment terms

Employment is as a teaching assistant under the Circular on the structure of scientific personnel positions at universities and the Circular on hourly-paid teaching (for completed graduates) or the Collective Agreement for student instructors at universities, etc. (for students)

The concrete hourly rate is set per semester and paid at an hourly wage of DKK 288.95. Preparation for teaching is paid at 1½ hours per confrontation hour.

For students, furthermore, if teaching sessions are repeated within two weeks, full preparation is allocated to the first teaching session and half preparation to the following ones. For task grading, compensation is only for the time spent on directing the tasks.

Hiring a teaching assistant with a master's degree occurs for a period of 3 years.

Employment of a teaching assistant who is a student lasts until enrollment ends.

Recruitment process

After the application deadline, the hiring authority, with advice from the hiring committee, will decide which applicants should be evaluated. All applicants will immediately thereafter be informed whether their application has progressed to be assessed by a scientific/subject-matter committee.
