About the job

Sociological Institute seeks teaching assistants for the spring semester 2027

The Department of Sociology at the University of Copenhagen seeks teaching assistants for the spring semester 2027. As a teaching assistant you teach exercise groups that support the course lectures. You help students understand and use the material, facilitate discussions and group work, and provide feedback along the way.

We are seeking teaching assistants for the courses Basic Statistics , Sociological Theory and History of the Subject , Modern Statistical Analysis Strategies and Sociological Theory Developments . The courses’ content and learning objectives are described in the course descriptions at kurser.ku.dk.

Wages and terms of employment

Each exercise session consists of two lessons of 45 minutes. For each exercise session you are paid a total of 5 hours, which covers both teaching and preparation. In addition, attendance at meetings and any assignment marking is paid. The first time you teach a course, you may also, after a concrete assessment, be allocated hours to observe the lectures (radiator hours).

The employment is covered by the agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and the Association of Student Employees. The hourly wage is 259.38 DKK (level as of 1 April 2026). It is a condition that you are enrolled in a higher education. The employment is permanent and ends when you are no longer active as a student.

Pedagogy Course

If you have not previously taken the introductory course in applied pedagogy, you must take it before teaching starts. The course is offered by the University of Copenhagen over two days in January. The course is free, and you are paid to participate.

Recruitment process

After the application deadline, the head of studies selects which applicants will be assessed by an expert assessment committee. All applicants are informed whether their application progresses. The selected applicants are informed of the committee’s composition and may comment on their own assessment. Interviews are then held with the highest-priority applicants per course.

Application

Send a motivated application together with a CV and grade transcript (enrolment certificate) via ”APPLY FOR THE POSITION” no later than 27 October 2026. Indicate in your application which courses you wish to teach, in order of priority. Also indicate whether you want to teach two exercise groups in the same course.

Questions about the individual courses can be directed to the course coordinators, which appear at kurser.ku.dk. Other questions should be directed to the head of studies Lasse S. Liebst, [email protected].

We strive to reflect the surrounding society and encourage everyone regardless of personal background to apply for the position.

The University of Copenhagen gives its just under 10,000 employees opportunities to fully utilize their talents in an ambitious, informal environment. We ensure traditional and modern frameworks for education and free research at a high international level. We seek answers and solutions to common problems and make new knowledge accessible and useful to others.
