Tech Lead and Platform Architect for Mar-tech

Do you want to set the technical direction for a shared Martech platform across some of Denmark's strongest media brands?

At JP/Politikens Hus we are building a central Martech team that will create better and more cohesive customer experiences across Politiken, Jyllands-Posten, Ekstra Bladet and Watch Medier.

We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead and Platform Architect who can set the technical direction and actively contribute to the development of our Martech platform.

The role

As Tech Lead and Platform Architect you will be responsible for the overall technical delivery and direction in the Martech team. You must ensure coherence between customer data, identity, tracking, integrations and activation, so the platform functions as a single product rather than a set of standalone systems.

A central goal is to develop common and reusable building blocks that can be used across brands, channels and customer journeys. The role involves professional leadership, but not people management. You must be able to translate business needs into robust platform solutions, make clear technical choices and ensure that the platform enables product teams and commercial teams to work quickly, safely and autonomously.

Your responsibility

• Set and maintain the technical direction for the Martech platform.
• Develop the platform as a coherent product with clear standards, reusable building blocks and good self-service capabilities.
• Drive the architecture work within customer data, identity, tracking, integrations and activation.
• Define principles and interfaces for how the Martech platform interacts with the Data Platform and other product platforms.
• Ensure that solutions are robust, scalable, secure and usable across multiple teams and brands.
• Establish standards for APIs, events, schemas, data contracts, version control and integrations.
• Follow technical decisions from analysis and design to implementation, operation and continuous improvement.
• Professionally lead the team’s specialists through sparring, design and code reviews and clear technical choices.
• Communicate technical choices and implications clearly to specialists, product management and commercial decision-makers.

Your first major tasks

• Lead the assessment and definition of the future Martech architecture.
• Define the principles for the platform's customer data, identity, tracking and activation in collaboration with the Data Platform.
• Establish technical standards and clear interfaces for events, schemas, data contracts and integrations.
• Be the technical advisor for migrating a media title to the shared Martech platform.
• Build common building blocks such as customer segments, identity data, scores, events and activation integrations.
• Establish a simple and secure framework for testing new segments, data sources and activation possibilities.

We imagine that you

• Have solid experience with software, integration or platform architecture.
• Have developed platforms or common technical capabilities used by multiple teams.
• Have practical experience with APIs, events, integrations, automation and modern software development.
• Can design clear interfaces and abstract complexity so that other teams can work safely and autonomously.
• Have experience with Git, pull requests, testing, code reviews and ongoing technical quality assurance.
• Have worked with customer data, identity, events, tracking, consent or related domains.
• Have experience with larger technical changes or migrations across multiple teams.
• Thrive as a technical sparring partner and professional leader and can raise the quality of others' work.
• Can switch between strategic decisions, technical sparring and their own contribution to complex implementations.

It is advantageous if you have experience with

Martech, CDP or marketing automation platforms, preferably Bloomreach Engagement or similar. Experience with event-driven architectures, cloud-based integration solutions and platforms such as Kafka, Snowplow, Snowflake, dbt or Hightouch is also relevant. The same applies to experience from media, subscription, e-commerce or other businesses with many digital customer touchpoints.
