About the job

As a textile designer, you will play a central role in Gabriel's design and product development department, where we design and develop upholstery textiles and solutions. The development projects cover everything from innovative ideas all the way through to the final product, and you will be part of a strong internal team of designers, engineers and project managers, and you will work closely with our internal and external customers and suppliers.

Your primary responsibilities will be

  • Design and development of new textiles for upholstery, curtains and other textile applications.
  • Ensuring high aesthetic quality of your design projects.
  • Analysing market trends and user needs to create high customer value.
  • Developing concepts and design briefs for new products.
  • Managing the design and development process efficiently and with continuous progress.
  • Preparing inspiring physical and digital product presentations.

You will collaborate closely with customers and colleagues to identify and develop product ideas, applying your textile expertise across a wide range of design tasks.

You will work full-time in our office, preferably in Aalborg, though satellite work from Copenhagen may also be possible. You will report to the Design Director and can expect 20-40 travel days per year.

Your experience and competences

  • You have a relevant educational background within textile design and have several years’ experience in a similar role, where textile design concepts are turned into commercially relevant solutions.
  • Based on knowledge in weaving and textile construction, you have solid experience in industrial textile design and product development, with the ability to create designs with strong aesthetic and functional qualities.
  • Drawing on trends, insights, and your experience, you generate new product ideas and contribute actively to early-stage development projects, as well as getting the products ready for production.
  • You are experienced in customer collaborations and dialogues and can translate market insights into new solutions and product ideas.

Your broad knowledge of materials allows you to combine hands-on design expertise with the ability to deliver projects to a high professional standard. You also have experience developing and visualising design concepts through both physical and digital presentations. Experience from working in cross-disciplinary teams with textile engineers, project managers, sales and marketing teams is also an advantage.

You naturally take the lead in defining and achieving development targets, and you are creative and innovative, with a strong sense of design aesthetics, colours and materiality. You work independently to drive projects forward while also collaborating efficiently in the multidisciplinary development team.

You are a strong communicator who is comfortable in relations and engagements with colleagues, customers and suppliers, where users, applications and presentations are an integral part of the design process, and you communicate fluently in English, Gabriel’s company language.

We aim to foster an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive and share their unique perspectives and skills. We believe that diversity fosters collaboration and contributes to our success, and we welcome all qualified applicants, regardless of gender, age, ethnic background, or other personal characteristics. To ensure a fair and unbiased recruitment process, we encourage candidates not to disclose their gender or age and not to include a photograph in the materials they send to us.
