About the job

Are you passionate about the pedagogical field and about supporting the development of quality in pedagogical practice in day-care services?

Do you want to participate in close collegial collaboration on the supervision task and on developing play- and learning environments in close interaction with local kindergartens, childminders, and private daycare providers?

Are you a professionally skilled supervision consultant - then you may be the one we need?

The Joint Secretariat in the Children and Family Department and the School Department are seeking an experienced and engaged pedagogical development consultant for a position with pedagogical supervision in the day-care area as the main task.

The position is 37 hours per week with commencement on 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

In Silkeborg Municipality we work ambitiously to provide high quality offerings for children — both in the general area, the special area and in initiatives targeted at children, young people and families in vulnerable positions.

As a pedagogical development consultant for the 0-6 year age group you will play a central role in the legally mandated pedagogical supervision and in the work to support professional leadership and pedagogical practice in day-care, childminding, and in private daycare providers.

Your main tasks

The Daycare Act's requirements for strengthened supervision as well as developments in the day-care area mean that the supervision task for the 0-6 age group must be carried out with a high degree of systematicity, professionalism and coherence. The task is already handled by three competent consultants, and we are seeking a pedagogical development consultant who can join this strong professional community around preparation, execution and follow-up of supervision in both municipal and private day-care facilities.

The supervision is conducted based on the municipality's supervision design, where KIDS is used as an observation tool, and where the supervision module Brain & Heart supports documentation and follow-up. The new consultant will be trained in KIDS as needed so the person is well prepared for the task. The task also includes communicating observations and assessments clearly and engaging in qualified dialogues with management and staff about pedagogical quality and the further development work in the individual day-care facility and in the area as a whole.

Examples of tasks you will participate in

  • pedagogical supervision visits in day-care institutions, childminding, and private daycare providers, including assessment of pedagogical practice and quality level
  • dialogue and collaboration with day-care staff and leaders on pedagogical initiatives
  • preparation of reports and follow-up based on the supervision visits
  • ongoing development dialogues and processes based on supervision and data
  • facilitate professional networks for staff in day-care
  • coordinate central competence development courses
  • handle ad-hoc inquiries from leadership and practice in day-care

In order for you to be successful

  • you are a trained pedagogue with several years of experience from pedagogical practice
  • you have thorough general pedagogical knowledge and insight, experience from a consultancy-like role and preferably a relevant extension to the pedagogy education
  • you have strong processual and coordinating skills
  • you work in a dialogical and structured manner

As a pedagogical development consultant you will work closely with leaders and staff in day-care on developing a high quality level in pedagogical practice in day-care in general.

Therefore it is important that you

  • can facilitate processes with leaders and staff and are familiar with basic project management tools
  • can guide and support leaders and staff in a practice-oriented and relevant way
  • are flexible, development-oriented, listening and action-oriented
  • are skilled at inclusive collaborative processes
  • reside in yourself and can handle difficult situations with calm and ability to create an overview
  • can build trust, courage and followership through your own practice

We offer

  • a job with real meaning
  • accessible and attentive leadership
  • a good working environment
  • mentoring program and ongoing sparring
  • professionally engaged and interested colleagues
  • a job with variety, development opportunities and flexibility
  • competent collaboration partners both internally and externally

Salary and terms of employment according to the current collective agreement and agreement on local pay formation.

We look forward to receiving your application.
