Two specialists in neurology sought for the Department of Brain and Nervous Diseases, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital

We are seeking two consultant neurologists who would like to become part of a large neurological department with both broad clinical neurology, specialized outpatient services and acute patient pathways.

We have two vacant consultant positions, but do not want to lock them in advance to specific subspecialties. We would like to compose the positions so that they match both the department's needs and the competencies and professional interests that the right candidates bring.

The position

As a consultant with us you will as a rule be attached to two specialties and at the same time contribute to the department's shared clinical tasks, including ward rounds and on-call duties.

We currently have a particular need to strengthen

• our stroke unit for patients with clots and intracerebral hemorrhages
• our inpatient unit for acute and general neurology
• The Headache Clinic
• the epilepsy area
• our neurological diagnostic outpatient clinic

The two positions must collectively contribute to strengthening both the inpatient units and the outpatient functions. Therefore, we are not predefining a specific combination of inpatient units and subspecialties.

The exact composition of the two positions is determined based on the department's total needs and the chosen candidates' experience, competencies and professional interests. It could, for example, be a combination of a neurological subspecialty, broad outpatient neurology and ward rounds in one of our inpatient units. Common to both positions is participation in the department's on-call function.

We are seeking consultant neurologists who both want to develop a professional profile and contribute to the broad neurological workload.

You do not need to bring a complete subspecialty profile. For the right candidate, the position can also be an opportunity to develop or expand a field.

About the department

The Department of Brain and Nervous Diseases at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital handles both acute, inpatient and outpatient neurology. We have functions within stroke, acute neurology, headaches, epilepsy, movement disorders, memory disorders and broad neurological diagnostics.

The department has a large educational responsibility and close cooperation between consultants, junior doctors and other professional groups. We emphasize high professionalism, integrity and wellbeing. The consultants play a central role in the daily culture and are expected to contribute professionally, educationally and to a working environment characterized by collaboration and psychological safety.
