About the job
Do you want to work as a weapons mechanic within a broad range of weapon materiel, including some of the heavier ones? Would you like a versatile job with both technical and operational character? Then this position might be for you. Are you seeking challenges, personal and professional development, and can you work in a workshop with a changing daily routine? Then it is you we are looking for.
About us
Maintenance Area West is part of the Maintenance Department Land. We perform maintenance tasks on the Army's land-based materiel systems. We have workshops in Aalborg, Skive, Holstebro, Varde and Oksbøl and consist of about 300 employees in total. Workshop Holstebro is organized under Maintenance Area West.
We consist of about 48 seasoned employees; our primary task is to maintain, inspect, and repair the Army's special vehicles, including combat vehicles, armored personnel carriers, trucks and passenger cars as well as other equipment for our soldiers. The workshop is certified in Quality Management (ISO-9001) and Occupational Health and Safety Management (ISO-45001).
We focus on enabling each employee to balance work and private life and offer flexible working hours, paid lunch break, and employer-paid pension scheme.
About the position
As our new weapons mechanic you will join a team of trained mechanics who work together based on tasks and guidelines provided by the assistant workshop supervisor.
Your primary duties will be diagnostics, inspection, and repair of handheld weapon materiel and weapon platforms on vehicles, including tanks, as well as saddler and quartermaster materiel.
The tasks will be based on your qualifications, where you initially will start by working on handheld weapons and subsequently further train in weapon platforms on wheeled and tracked vehicles.
About you
You must have a craft certificate, which could be as a precision mechanic, weapons mechanic, blacksmith training with a level 4 specialization, toolmaker, contractor and agricultural machinery technician with a specialization as agricultural locksmith, or industrial mechanic with a specialization as industrial mechanic-machinery.
We expect that you at minimum have a B driving license and preferably a C-E license.
You have high professional competence in your problem-solving and take pride in performing repairs and inspections of high quality.
Within the workshop's tasks it may be difficult to know what the workweek will bring, therefore you must be adaptable and understand that it is often urgent to get materiel back to the user. So a flexible and service-oriented attitude is a key parameter for success in the job.
Terms of employment
The position is advertised for both civilian and military candidates.
The employment will be in accordance with the currently applicable Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Public Employees Organization – The Public Sector (OAO-S collective agreement) and the Trade Agreement for craftsmen and technicians.
Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is a possibility for negotiating allowances. There is an employer-funded pension scheme attached to the position.
The workplace is in Holstebro.
As an employee under the Ministry of Defence, you are subject to some special terms. You must be able to undergo and maintain security clearance throughout the employment.
You have a duty as an employee to serve outside of the country, including with units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peace-building, humanitarian and similar operations.
