About the job

We are seeking a new veterinarian for our veterinary team as of January 1, 2027. This is a permanent full-time position (37 hours/week including lunch).

About us

Center for Corefacilities (CCF) at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen, brings the university's strategic research infrastructure into one unit. The aim is to strengthen access to advanced technologies, ensure interdisciplinary collaboration and support research at the highest international level. As part of CCF, the Animal Core Facility (ACF) contributes expertise in laboratory animals and animal welfare.

ACF runs facilities at Nørre Campus and Frederiksberg, where we house and care for several animal species – including rodents, pigs, zebrafish, frogs and poultry – and provide professional guidance and assistance to researchers.

Your tasks

You will be part of the department's veterinary team, which consists of six veterinarians. Together, the veterinarians cover a wide range of tasks, including researcher advisory, monitoring of experimental activities, supervision of sick animals, autopsies, health monitoring, medication management and prescription writing, animal welfare committee work, teaching, as well as import and export of animals.

Each veterinarian is attached to their own animal wards, where regular rounds and ongoing veterinary advice are provided. At the same time, you will contribute to the team’s other tasks across the department’s facilities.

The position provides opportunities to work broadly in laboratory animal medicine and animal welfare with tasks ranging from clinical veterinary work and researcher advisory to monitoring of experimental activities and teaching. Necessary training will of course be provided.

The position also includes participation in a 6-shift weekend duty (phone duty from home with possible call-out from 8:00 to 15:00).

Qualifications

  • You are a veterinarian with Danish authorization.
  • You preferably have biomedical specialization.
  • Experience with laboratory animals, animal experiments and/or work as a laboratory animal veterinarian is an advantage but not required.
  • You thrive in a changing day-to-day with many different tasks and interfaces.
  • You have good collaboration skills and are prepared to contribute to solving the diverse tasks our daily work entails.
  • You are outgoing and able to take the initiative across a large organization.
  • You have good communication skills in both Danish and English - both spoken and written.
  • You must not keep rodents as pets at home and must not be allergic to the animals we house.

We offer

  • A varied and exciting job in a department where development and change are a natural part of everyday life.
  • Opportunity to work with several animal species and a broad spectrum of research areas.
  • A strong professional environment with experienced colleagues in laboratory animal medicine, animal welfare and research support.
  • Focus on professional development through training, sparring, internal courses and participation in relevant external events.
