About the job

Are you passionate about leadership and about developing quality in the specialized social sector?

We are looking for a deputy head of division for the Special Sector Administration, who will lead the work on professional quality, documentation and digital support. You will have the management responsibility for two consultant teams and a central role in setting the direction for the professional development across the Special Sector’s offerings.

About the task and the role

The Special Sector is a company under Region Nordjylland, whose main task is to deliver specialized interventions for citizens on behalf of the municipalities. The interventions are primarily delivered at residential facilities as well as other services in the social and special education area.

We operate on market-like terms and continuously develop our offerings so that they meet the municipalities’ demand and needs. Citizens must receive an effort that works and yields results based on the municipality’s order. This places demands on the professional quality and the framework we provide leaders and employees at the offerings.

As deputy head of division you will have overall responsibility for developing the framework for quality work in the Special Sector, thereby contributing to creating the best possible conditions for the company’s offerings to succeed in performing their core task.

You will become a strategic and professional sparring partner for the company management and the area managers and shall contribute to setting direction for the social and health professional quality, as well as the occupational health and safety work.

The Special Sector has initiated work to rethink the framework for quality work with a view to a more practically grounded support. In addition, work is underway to develop documentation practices. The goal is among other things to make it easier and more meaningful for employees to work systematically with professional reflection and documentation in the citizen-focused efforts. You will play a central role in leading this work.

You must set the direction and framework for how data and documentation are used more actively and meaningfully in quality work. Professional IT systems and data must support the professional practice and make it easier for both employees and managers to work systematically with quality. You will have the overarching responsibility for development and use of relevant professional data as well as for the professional systems that support documentation, professional reflection and leadership follow-up.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that the Special Sector follows professional developments regionally and nationally, so that our strategies and decisions are based on relevant knowledge, developments in the external world and the current political agenda.

You will be employed in the Special Sector Administration reporting to the Vice Director of Social Affairs and will be part of the department management together with the deputy head of division for Finance and Municipal Cooperation. The department management shares the responsibility for ensuring that the administration’s work is coordinated and supports the Special Sector’s overall operation.

You will also enter into close and binding cooperation with the Director of Social Affairs and the Vice Director of Social Affairs, the area managers and the service managers and become part of the Special Sector’s overall leadership community.

Your leadership responsibility

You will become line manager for two teams in the administration with a total of nine consultants: the Development Team and the Data and Digitalization Team.

The Development Team works, among other things, with social and health-related quality and occupational health and safety. The Data and Digitalization Team works with professional IT systems, documentation, workflows and professional data about the interventions for the citizens.

You will be responsible for both the development of the consultants, the teams’ collaboration and the overall prioritization of tasks. It will be an important leadership task to develop a culture where responsibility and professional ownership are more anchored in the teams, and where the consultants actively bring their own and each other’s competencies into play.

You should also be an approachable leader and professional sparring partner who can set direction, prioritize and step in when tasks or processes require leadership involvement.

You should especially succeed by

  • setting a clear professional direction for the Special Sector’s work with quality, documentation, data and digital support
  • developing the interplay between the Development Team and the Data and Digitalization Team, so their different competencies are brought into play around common tasks
  • leading and developing the two teams so that the consultants’ different professional competencies and personal strengths are used as effectively as possible in task solving
  • supporting a culture with a high degree of independence and shared responsibility, where the consultants actively use each other and take responsibility for both own and shared deliveries
  • prioritizing and creating direction in the teams’ total task portfolio and following up on goals, projects and deliverables
