About the job

Do you bring solid leadership experience, and are you strategically minded? Do you thrive with a large societal responsibility, can you lead through leaders and create improvements in a large organization that is in constant change and every day lifts a central task for security in Denmark? If the answers are yes, you can apply for the position as Vice Regional Director in Fængselskreds Vest.

Your responsibilities

The vice regional director focuses on operations and has responsibility to professionalize the implementation of political and strategic decisions across the circuit.

One of the many important tasks for the vice regional director is to be the circuit director's closest advisor in ensuring compliance with rules (compliance) and good governance across the prison circuit.

Through the daily management of the office heads for Client Case Processing, Security, Crime Prevention, Health, Control and Supervision as well as the secretariat, there is ongoing work with knowledge sharing, leadership coaching and common solutions to general and concrete operational issues. This requires a strong insight into areas such as confinement of punishment, security and crime prevention.

This insight is also important in the work with Penal Reform, where the implementation of several important initiatives is anchored in the vice regional director's area. This thus requires a substantial focus on progress and implementation as well as the ability to think across both the organization and the tasks.

The vice regional director reports to the circuit director and is his deputy. As vice regional director you thus join the circuit's top management and in close collaboration with the Danish Prisons Agency and Prison Circle East. The task is to jointly ensure that imprisonment and supervision etc. are carried out at a uniform high professional level across Denmark's Prisons.

As vice regional director you – together with the rest of the management – will be guarantor that our work is of high quality and in accordance with the rules in the field, just as you must contribute to the prison circle entering into a well-functioning cooperation with our many partners, including police, municipalities, health services etc.

As vice regional director you will therefore have an ongoing and close dialogue with the other top management, with the prison directors, with the circuit office heads and not least with both Fængselskreds Øst and the Danish Prisons Agency.

About you

You have a relevant academic education and solid managerial experience at a strategic level from one or more larger organizations, preferably a public organization. It is expected that you have the necessary insight into and understanding of the work area of Denmark's Prisons and the Ministry of Justice.

We also expect that you

  • Have experience with execution, management and implementation of large projects in a politically governed organization
  • Have experience with managing a large organization
  • Have knowledge of – and preferably experience with - imprisonment
  • Are innovative, results-oriented and can create overview, structure and momentum in a diverse public authority under ongoing change
  • Can combine the requirement for efficiency with the development of a good and attractive workplace, while ensuring efficient and service-oriented operations
  • Have experience in leading other leaders and working in an organization with many different employee groups
  • Have exceptionally strong leadership skills, a trust-building leadership style and good collaboration skills
  • Have good abilities for internal and external communication

You will become part of a strong interdisciplinary environment at the circuit office in Fængselskreds Vest. We emphasize high professionalism and strong governance competencies and an open and humorous working environment. We also emphasize that our busy daily work is accompanied by a good tone, helpfulness toward each other, and the desire to be part of a team.
