About the job
At the Directorate for International Recruitment and Integration, every decision matters for a foreign national who wants to work or study in Denmark, and for the Danish company or educational institution waiting for a response. We are seeking academics who choose case processing and who are motivated to translate professionalism into concrete results.
Welcome to SIRI
In SIRI we process applications for residence and work permits for foreigners from all over the world who want to work or study in Denmark. We ensure EU citizens easy and fast access to Denmark, advise municipalities on integration and prevention of negative social control, and develop tests in Danish and knowledge about Denmark. We also monitor that the conditions for issued residence and work permits are complied with across all our schemes.
The positions are located in our case-processing offices, including our Center for Control. Regardless of office, the task is case processing, either of applications for residence and work permits or of cases where we check whether the conditions for a permit continue to be met. You can read more about SIRI and our offices here .
Regardless of which office you become part of, you will get
- meaningful tasks in a high-level political arena
- a collegial community with room for different professional backgrounds and perspectives
- insight into the interplay between law, policy and practice
In SIRI digitalization is an important part of our daily work. We work with new technological possibilities e.g. AI to strengthen efficient and secure task completion and create value for citizens, businesses and employees.
We need strong case workers
Case processing is the core of all positions, but the nature and complexity of the tasks vary depending on the office you are employed in, and your experience. Therefore we are looking for two profiles, most positions are in profile 1.
Profile 1: You are driven by operations
You like to master your cases, find a good work rhythm and see the results of your efforts. You thrive with ongoing case processing and are motivated to close cases efficiently and with high legal quality. You work structurally, take responsibility for your production and take pride in continuously developing your professional competencies. For you, case processing is a craft you want to master, and you find motivation in creating concrete results for citizens and businesses both on your own and with your team.
Profile 2: You combine case processing with ad-hoc tasks
You have a solid foundation in case processing and spend most of your time there. Occasionally you also handle tasks alongside the operations, e.g. notes, clarifying complex cases or professional questions across the agency’s offices. These tasks often have short deadlines and require coordination with colleagues and other offices, while your own cases must be kept moving.
You thrive on switching quickly between tasks, keeping an overview when there is pressure, and can deliver a professionally solid product on short notice. How often other tasks arise depends on the office. The tasks supplement case processing; they do not replace it.
We need both profiles, and it is the combination that makes our offices strong.
What your day will look like
In SIRI we share responsibility for the cases and our goals. Your production targets are adjusted to your tasks, your experience, and the complexity of the cases. As a newcomer you will receive thorough training, and the expectations of you will follow your development.
Your tasks will include, among others, to
- process application or control cases and make and convey decisions that are legally correct and written with the recipient in mind
- make legal assessments that can be highly complex
- collaborate with colleagues on professional questions and progress in the cases
- contribute to clarifying practices and guiding our users
- for profile 2: solve tasks with short deadlines, e.g. notes and professional clarifications across the house
About you
We envision that you have a Master of Laws (cand.jur.), a Master of Political Science (cand.scient.pol.) or a similar social science education. You may be a recent graduate or have experience with case processing and authority work. We attach importance to that you:
- actively choose case processing and have an interest in administrative law and authority work
- work in a structured way and take responsibility to complete your tasks
- are motivated by achieving goals, both your own and the team's
- work analytically and make well-founded decisions
- communicate clearly and precisely in Danish and can operate in English
- contribute to a collegial environment where we share knowledge and help each other
What you get with us
We prioritize thorough onboarding so you quickly become confident in your cases. Along the way you will have good opportunities for skills development through courses, sparring and new tasks.
Your wellbeing and a healthy work-life balance are important to us. Therefore we have flexible hours and, in time, up to two weekly remote-working days where the tasks allow it.
In SIRI we have an informal tone and a strong collegial and social community across the directorate. We have, among other things, a canteen, a table tennis table, a gym and a Friday bar.
Focus on flexibility and professional development
In SIRI our tasks evolve continuously. Therefore flexibility is a natural part of everyday life with us. As an employee you must be prepared that your tasks or your affiliation with a unit may change over time, and that there may be a need to move internally, for example due to organizational changes or new needs in the agency. This gives us the opportunity to use your competencies where they do the most good, and the internal moves can give you broader experience and new opportunities for professional development.
