About the job

Educator at Holmebækkens Børnehus in Herfølge

Are you passionate about creating safe and predictable structures for the children and about creating exciting learning environments, both indoors and outdoors? Do you want to become singing‑friendly certified and be part of our professional community?

Then you should hurry to send us an application.

We are looking for an educator for 35 hours for our kindergarten as of January 1, 2026.

Are you curious and do you want to make a difference for children’s well‑being and development? Do you have overview and a positive approach to children, colleagues and parents? Can you create a daily life where safety, presence and care go hand in hand with children's play, learning and development? Then you are the person we are looking for to our vacant position.

Holmebækkens Børnehus is an integrated day care facility with 2 infant groups, 2 kindergarten groups and a support group currently for 4 children. We are located in the southern part of Herfølge right next to Holmebækskolen, with whom we work closely regarding transitions. In Køge Municipality there is area leadership, and we are part of area south and Ejby together with 5 other day care institutions.

At Holmebækkens Børnehus our pedagogical practice is based on ICDP and the 8 interaction themes. All staff have completed ICDP training in January 2026. New employees will be offered the training. We work from a fundamental belief that children’s development happens in relationships, and that acknowledging interaction is the key to well‑being, development, learning and formation. We are in the process of building our profile, which is singing, language and culture.

This is to create lively and creative learning environments where children have the opportunity to express themselves, find their voice and become part of meaningful communities.

We focus on

  • Physical learning environments: To create clear play zones that support the children’s play and learning, both indoors and outdoors. You must therefore be able to reflect on and follow the children’s traces.
  • Positioning: To have clearly defined roles for pedagogical staff that create a balance between adult- and child-initiated activities. You must therefore be able to collaborate closely with your colleagues on defining your roles.
  • Formation and child perspective: To go "in front of", "beside" and "behind" in relation to the children’s activities and composition, as well as ensuring the children’s co-determination and involvement in daily life. You must therefore be an acknowledgeing adult who has the courage to discuss the child perspective with your colleagues.
  • Parental collaboration: To strengthen the collaboration with parents through systematic dialogue and involvement in the children’s everyday life. You must therefore spend time writing on Aula, be able to make analog postings in the institution’s arranged areas for this. You must, together with your colleagues, be able to reflect on what a professional parent collaboration is.
  • Children’s communities: To motivate and engage the children, and to support children in vulnerable positions through acknowledgment and positive expectations. You must therefore have an eye for the fact that we are not all the same and that it may be necessary to treat individuals differently. You must focus on everyone being part of a community, where we often divide into smaller groups to be able to build good relationships.
  • Play and learning: To ensure a childhood characterized by educational play, support the children’s language development and create recognizable routines for learning. You must therefore enjoy participating in a game with the children, while at the same time making observations of what happens in the play.
  • Evaluation culture: To build a feedback culture and work systematically with evaluation to develop the pedagogical learning environments. You must therefore be ready to receive and give feedback to your colleagues. We create language ladders for all children twice a year.

Personal competencies

  • You are cheerful, honest and ambitious.
  • You are open, acknowledgementing and outward looking in words and actions. You are good at communicating, building relationships and collaborating at all levels.
  • You get excited easily and spread your enthusiasm.
  • You are able to meet children and colleagues with equality, respect and tolerance.
  • You can work both independently and in teams.

Professional competencies

  • You are a trained pedagog, preferably with experience from kindergarten.
  • You have strong relationship skills.
  • You can reflect on your own and others’ practice and you dare to contribute your ideas when we work together to create the best conditions for our children.
  • You enjoy working with children in vulnerable positions.
  • You must be able to formulate yourself in writing.

We would very much like you to visit before you apply.
