About the job

We are looking for a new colleague who can support all parts of the application process, from early idea development to the final application.

The competition for external research funding is tough, and the requirements for applicants are increasing, also for researchers in the Region of Southern Denmark. At the same time, many of our researchers must balance research activities with a busy clinical everyday life. Therefore professional researcher support is becoming an increasingly important role if we are to realize the objectives in the regional health research strategy.

To provide this support, the Region of Southern Denmark is establishing a regional funding unit that shall help researchers secure external funding, especially in connection with larger and more complex applications. The unit shall cooperate with the hospitals' local funding staff, and in addition it shall facilitate education, knowledge sharing and exchange of experiences across the hospitals.

We are seeking a consultant with experience or knowledge of researcher support for the regional funding unit. As a consultant you will work closely with dedicated researchers, and you will become the primary point of contact for one or more hospitals in the region. You will be part of an area that is in strong development and has high strategic visibility.

Your main tasks

As part of the regional funding unit you will among other things

  • Advise researchers in connection with grant applications, including informing about current requirements and terms as well as provide qualified sparring on and generalist reading of applications at all stages of the application process
  • Help researchers identify relevant funds/opportunities
  • Help researchers and research units develop funding strategies
  • Spar and have close collaboration with local funding staff and funding units
  • Contribute to and participate in information meetings, workshops and courses
  • Monitor the developments in the funding landscape, including informing yourself about strategies and political agreements
  • Support the strategic development of the research area in the Region of Southern Denmark, including contributing with analyses and management information

You will be part of a team that works with both pre- and post-award researcher support, but your tasks will be concentrated on pre-award. You should expect a high degree of independence in the job and will have a large contact surface with researchers from many different specialties and with different professional backgrounds. The position also entails some travel activity, as you will also need to be present at the other hospitals in the Region of Southern Denmark.

Our expectations of you

We would like to see an application from you if you

  • Have a relevant academic education at Master's or PhD level
  • Have understanding of research and its conditions
  • Have experience with external funding applications
  • Have knowledge of the university or research world
  • Are skilled at building relationships, good processes and making things happen
  • Have a friendly, accommodating, service-oriented and proactive conduct
  • Have good communication skills and are proficient in written English
  • Are structured and can execute tasks efficiently and on time
  • Have insight into project planning, including organization and finances

It is also an advantage if you

  • Have knowledge of the health care system
  • Have knowledge of the national and international funding landscape, including the EU
  • Have a network in the Danish funding landscape
  • Yourself have been a researcher

We hope the description of the position has awakened your interest, and we look forward to reading your application.
