Job Description
Position Summary
As a Lean Manager (PPI) at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will implement transformational change through our Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Business System.
In this impactful role, you'll work closely with business leadership to establish and develop continuous improvement practices that enable profitable growth, enhance customer experience, and increase employee engagement. You will support the implementation of Lean methodologies and guide teams across functions to achieve performance results.
You will facilitate cross-functional improvement initiatives and build organisational capability in PPI tools and methodologies. Through mentoring and training, you'll help develop a culture of continuous improvement and problem-solving excellence. Your expertise in Lean principles will help optimise processes, reduce waste, and deliver measurable business impact across customer, financial, people, and quality metrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate Value Stream Mapping (VSM) activities to identify process inefficiencies, eliminate waste, and develop actionable improvement plans
- Apply Lean methodologies and tools, including 5S, Standardized Work, Kaizen frameworks, to optimize processes and drive operational excellence
- Support site leadership and cross-functional teams in implementing Lean initiatives and continuous improvement activities across the site
- Identify opportunities for process improvements; plan and facilitate Kaizen workshops and continuous improvement events, translating findings into practical action plans and best tools for measurable outcomes
- Drive change management and stakeholder engagement activities to promote adoption of new processes, tools, and ways of working
- Deliver Lean training and provide practical coaching to teams to strengthen Lean capabilities and promote a continuous improvement mindset, including via Gemba walks
This role offers the opportunity to implement meaningful change at an organisation dedicated to serving science, working collaboratively with teams to make significant contributions to helping customers make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree + 3 years’ experience implementing continuous improvement/Lean methodologies in a manufacturing organisation
- Preferred fields of study: Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Additional certifications in project management or continuous improvement methodologies beneficial
- Demonstrated expertise in Lean tools and methodologies, including Value Stream Mapping, Tiered Daily Management Systems, Gemba Walks, Leader Standard Work, Kaizen Events, Problem-Solving Methods, Visual Management and 5S
- Strong influencing and change management skills, with the ability to engage across the organisation, supported by strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills
- Excellent project management capabilities with a track record of delivering measurable results and experience with financial analysis and benefits tracking
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and lead through influence, with demonstrated success in developing and mentoring teams
- Experience in regulated industries (pharmaceutical or medical device) and knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and quality systems beneficial
- Proficiency in Danish and English, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite.
What We Offer
- An opportunity to join at a point of strength with real momentum to continuous improvement, rather than starting from scratch.
- Broad cross-functional reach — engaging with site leadership, the wider management team, as well as international colleagues and stakeholders
- Opportunity to leave a lasting cultural impact by embedding a sustainable PPI mindset at site
- Onsite health clinic offering free treatments and therapies, as well as free use of fitness facilities on the site
- Competitive salary and benefits.
As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you’ll discover meaningful work that makes a positive impact on a global scale. Join our colleagues in bringing our Mission to life every single day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world’s toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.
Apply soon to avoid disappointment! Appplications will be reviewed and shortlisted for interviews on an ongoing basis. We look forward to receiving yours!
