1 introductory position with a specialization in Clinical Immunology sought for Blood Bank and Immunology, Aarhus University Hospital

We are seeking a training physician with good professional qualifications and collaborative skills, with commencement on 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter in an introductory post (position number 6620-08-62-i-50). The position is 37 hours.

Blood Bank and Immunology at Aarhus University Hospital is the Region of Central Denmark’s specialty department in Clinical Immunology. The department employs about 200 staff and is responsible for the production of blood components, transfusion medical analyses, and clinical advice, transplant immunology analyses and diagnostic work with accompanying clinical guidance, testing for HIV and hepatitis, autoimmunodiagnostics and investigation of immune deficiencies. We are also a cell/tissue centre with responsibility for, for example, the production of stem cell products.

Responsibilities include

• transfusion medicine
• diagnostic immunology
• transplantation immunology
• cell/tissue area.

Transfusion medicine includes, among other things, advising on the choice of blood components, investigating transfusion complications and selecting blood components for immunised recipients. Functions under the cell/tissue area include collecting peripheral stem cells from patients and donors, processing and freezing stem cells, and searching for and selecting stem cell donors for stem cell transplantation worldwide.

Other clinical immunology functions include investigation and monitoring of immune deficiency states, tissue-type-based investigations of donors and patients prior to transplantation, and immunomodulatory treatments such as plasma exchange and photochemotherapy.

There is on-call commitment, currently 10-shift on-call duty, outside the service location after the introduction period.
