About the job

Do you want to make a difference for children, young people and families in vulnerable positions through an intensive, home-based approach - then you might be our new colleague in the Family Compass team in the Children and Youth Center Randers.

We are seeking 3 social-educational staff for permanent positions of 37 hours per week in Family Compass, which includes two new initiatives (Track 1 and 2) in the Children and Youth Center Randers.

The Children and Youth Center is part of the Family Area in Randers Municipality and offers preventive, supportive and therapeutic interventions for children, young people and families in vulnerable or exposed positions. The target group for the center's interventions is children and young people aged 0-23 and their families.

What is common for the families we work with is that they are in a situation where there is a need for change, development or special support. We believe that the best solutions are created in close collaboration with the children, the young people, the families and their networks. Therefore we work from the family's resources, relationships and everyday life.

As an employee in Family Compass you will be part of a professionally strong center with different initiatives and competences. You will have colleagues with broad experience in, among other things, family treatment, family consultant work and preventive interventions. You will also be part of an organization where collaboration, professional reflection and development are highly valued.

About Family Compass – Track 1 and 2

Family Compass offers home-based interventions for families with children and young people aged 0-18 years where there is serious or increasing concern for the child's well-being, development or safety.

As an employee you will work independently in the family’s home and must be able to navigate safely in complex situations. At the same time you will be part of a small team of 6 staff who coordinate the intervention, share observations and bear a common professional responsibility.

Track 1 is an intensive assessment process focusing on observation, assessment and clarification of the family's situation. The intervention can include up to 35 hours per week in the family and should provide a solid basis for assessing the child's and family's needs as well as any further interventions.

Track 2 is support, guidance and development in the family's daily life, where work is targeted at the family's development and coping. The intervention is planned according to the family's needs and typically includes up to 10 hours per week.

Your tasks will include

  • observe interaction, routines, structure, resources, protective factors and areas of concern in the family's daily life
  • build trusting and transparent relationships with children, young people and parents
  • provide on-the-spot guidance, support and advice in relevant daily situations
  • translate observations into professional assessments and hypotheses that can be tested in practice
  • work creatively and methodically based on the individual family's situation and needs
  • systematically document and contribute to a written assessment with recommendations for potential further intervention
  • work closely with the family, colleagues, authority advisor and the family's private and professional network
  • actively contribute to the development of Family Compass, including development of methods, workflows and a shared professional practice

We imagine that you

  • have a relevant social-science education and experience with children, young people and families in vulnerable positions
  • possess strong competencies in observation, assessment, family dynamics and relationship work
  • can stand professionally secure in complex and unpredictable situations and maintain calm, overview and ethical judgment
  • can work systematically and maintain the professional direction, but at the same time are ready to switch track when the family's situation or new observations call for another approach
  • dare to think outside the box and can develop creative and relevant solutions together with the family without losing the professional anchoring
  • can translate professionalism into action and are not afraid to lend a hand in the practical tasks that may be crucial to creating contact, trust and development in the family
  • have a high degree of collaboration skills and contribute actively to shared reflection, coordination and learning in the team
  • can work independently and take responsibility, even when you work alone in the family's home
  • can enter into a close and binding collaboration with the authorities sector and the family's other networks
  • express yourself clearly and nuanced in writing and can distinguish between observations, professional assessments and recommendations
  • are flexible regarding tasks and working hours and thrive on the fact that no workday is the same

We offer

  • a varied, meaningful and professionally challenging area of work with opportunity for real influence
  • close team collaboration with ongoing coordination, knowledge sharing and shared professional responsibility
  • regular weekly professional sparring and reflection in the employee team
  • supervision and access to professional sparring from colleagues and management
  • a workplace in development with a culture-based focus on recognition, responsibility, engagement and curiosity
  • engaged and professionally competent colleagues
  • a daily life with great variation and the opportunity to help shape Family Compass from the beginning

Working hours and employment terms

All positions are 37 hours per week with the latest starting date 1 January 2027.

As an employee in Family Compass you are very much self-scheduling and share responsibility for planning your workday in close cooperation with the team and based on the families’ needs.

Working hours are flexible and vary, as the intervention takes place in the families’ daily lives. Therefore you should expect both day, evening and weekend work (including holidays). Weekend work occurs most every third weekend. Working hours are, as a rule, between 07:00 and 22:00 and planned with a focus on creating the greatest possible impact for the children, the young people and their families.

It is necessary that you have a driver's license and have access to your own car, which you are willing to use in the job.

Salary and employment terms are set in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

Upon hire, a child and criminal background check will be obtained.

We encourage all qualified applicants to apply for the position.
