About the job
Do you want to be part of the team where political visions are translated into action for citizens and businesses? Are you passionate about making your mark on the future sustainable settlement and business development? Then you may be our upcoming Development Consultant in Economic Development, Settlement and Sustainability.
About the position
Sustainable settlement and business development are the driving forces in the position as development consultant in the department Economic Development & Sustainability. We are a department of 24 staff members, part of the Administration for Planning, Technology and Environment. Here we are close to citizens and companies, and we work every day to create the physical and strategic frameworks for The Good Life – the council’s visionary development strategy toward 2039.
We do this by setting the strategic framework in close cooperation with the political committees and translating the overarching goals of business development, attractive communities and cities into concrete actions.
You will become part of a dynamic team of 9 consultants, where we work on development often in collaboration with the rest of the administration and across the organization. As a development consultant you will have the perfect professional playground here: We work in a field where there is a need for both a long-term strategic view and the ability to execute here and now. Everyday life is characterized by high professionalism, speed, cross-cutting collaboration and close contact with management and professional areas.
Your main areas of focus
In Aabenraa Municipality we want to strengthen the connection and attraction of residents so that even more can take part in the good life. We have a new settlement strategy on the way, and you as a development consultant will be part of the work to translate strategic visions into concrete actions and follow up on these together with the team’s settlement consultant. Part of the task will be to prepare notes for the political committees as well as engage in coordinated tasks across administrations and partners.
Aabenraa Municipality’s unique border location means that your tasks will also involve the rights of the German minority in Aabenraa Municipality as well as cross-border cooperation.
In addition, you will participate in revising the municipal business strategy to reflect the new council’s ambitions, where ambitious green development is the central focus. You will be the project manager on the task and will engage in close dialogue with the department head. Implementation and follow-up of the business strategy will be part of your task portfolio. This includes, among other things, planning networking events for the business community, where we create the framework for dialogue and strong partnerships between companies and the municipality.
We are committed to strategies creating tangible value for our citizens and businesses. Therefore we want to strengthen data-driven leadership so that new knowledge and trends qualify our future efforts. You will be thecollaborator on this task and will engage in dialogue with leaders and colleagues in the administration to develop the area. You will also be involved in other development tasks in the administration, where you handle project and process leadership.
Your tasks will include, among other things, to
- support management with strategy development, implementation and follow-up within sustainable settlement and business development
- plan and carry out business and settlement events in close collaboration with colleagues and management
- prepare decision bases, agendas and case dossiers for the political committees
- act as project manager and process consultant on cross-cutting development tasks in the administration
- strengthen data-driven leadership in the administration through analysis and communication.
We expect that you
Are a generalist with a curious mind, analytical and thrive with varied tasks. You are motivated by creating overview and finding solutions. You can be a recent graduate or have a couple of years of experience. The most important is that you have strong analytical abilities, great interest in strategic development work and the courage to quickly grow with the tasks.
Professionally we expect you to have
- a relevant master's degree, e.g., in social science, political science, public administration, economics or similar, where you have gained the methodological tools
- interest in or experience with data analysis and a desire to bring tools like Excel, Power BI or similar into strategic use
- good written skills and the ability to formulate complex topics clearly and precisely
- experience with or willingness to coordinate events as well as facilitate project and process courses.
We also value that you
- are curious, analytical and proactive
- work structured and create overview in complex issues
- thrive with both independent work and close, cross-cutting collaboration
- take responsibility for your tasks and follow them through to completion
- contribute positively to the community and the good working environment in the team.
Experience from a politically governed organization is an advantage, but absolutely not a requirement – we will equip you well. Since we are located in a unique border area, German in writing and speech would be an advantage, but it is not a requirement to perform the job.
With us you get
With us you get ample opportunity to translate your academic knowledge into practice that directly affects development in Aabenraa Municipality.
