Application Specialist for Network Monitoring and Automation

Would you like to work closely with the network and use monitoring data to detect faults, capacity issues and inappropriate traffic, before they develop?

As an application specialist you will be responsible for developing our network monitoring and automation. You work with network devices, routing, integrations and automated workflows and make monitoring a practical tool for the teams that operate our OT infrastructure.

The whole team in OT Risk and Compliance currently has 13 dedicated colleagues based in Fredericia.

You make the network visible and translate data into action

Your professional core is the network. You develop how we monitor network devices, connections and traffic, and you help make alarms and data usable in daily operations. You collaborate closely with network, system and server teams, but your primary angle is the connections and communication between the systems. Your main tasks include:

• drive, maintain and optimize platforms for network and system monitoring
• expand monitoring of network devices, connections and traffic so that relevant deviations become visible
• work with routing, standard protocols and API-based integrations in connection with monitoring and troubleshooting
• develop scripts and workflows that automate configuration, alerting and repetitive operations
• connect monitoring data to incident, event and log handling and document the solutions in runbooks and procedures.

After the first year you have strengthened our network monitoring

In the first 6-12 months you have built a solid understanding of our network environment, platforms and collaboration interfaces. You have improved monitoring coverage of the network, made relevant alarms and data more usable in operations, and translated concrete needs into automated workflows and usable documentation. At the same time you have established a close collaboration with the technical teams around you.

You have network understanding and can translate it into better monitoring

We envision that you have several years of experience with network operations, network monitoring or related infrastructure tasks. You do not need to come with one specific tool background, but you must understand network behavior and be able to use that understanding to develop monitoring and automation. In addition you have:

• solid understanding of networks, routing and standard protocols and can use it in troubleshooting and monitoring
• experience with monitoring network devices and translating alarms and measurements into action
• experience with integrations to IT service management, event- and log handling
• work with APIs and scripting in e.g. PowerShell or Python and have an eye for where automation creates value
• a structured and proactive approach to your tasks, take responsibility and share your knowledge with colleagues across disciplines.

It is advantageous if you also have experience with security scanning, access control, performance optimization or capacity planning. Relevant certifications in networks, monitoring or IT service management are also advantageous.
