When an aircraft is to be directed through Danish airspace, it happens in close collaboration between air traffic control, technology, pilots, radar technicians and all the other specialists at Naviair. How to Apply as an Air Traffic Controller

To become an air traffic controller you must complete Naviair's air traffic controller education, which is a training program of 2.5 to 3 years.

We train air traffic controllers for our Danish control towers (TWR/APP) and for our area control (ACC) in Denmark.

Please note that to become an air traffic controller you must have good health and pass a medical fitness assessment. If you are in doubt whether you meet the health requirements, you can read more HERE.

You can apply year-round – but note the following

Applications received no later than September 15, 2027 will be included in the selection for the group of aspiring candidates expected to start in April 2028.

Applications received after September 15, 2027 will be processed in the next intake, i.e. for the group of aspirants expected to start in spring 2029.

• If you are interested in applying for admission to the air traffic controller training, you should click on “Apply”, follow the instructions and fill in the application form. You should also have your diploma for your secondary education (youth education) ready for upload. Then you are ready!
• When you have applied for admission to the air traffic controller training, you will automatically receive a confirmation from Naviair that your application has been received. You can only be sure that we have received your application when you have received this confirmation. If you have not received a confirmation, you should check your spam filter.
• PHASE 1 of the admission tests is expected to begin in spring 2027.
