ARE YOU GOING TO BE MACHINE MACHINE AMAGER'S NEW GENERAL MANAGER?

Maskine Maskine Amager (MMA) is a patient-driven workshop and day centre for people living with mental illness. We are located in the middle of Amagerbrogade, and we have 600 m² packed with practical activities and creative studios in art, textiles, wood and free ideas. We are open 40 hours per week, and on average 40 participants come here per day and over 1000 annual guests.

With us it is the patients themselves who own the place, run the workshops and set the agenda. We are a raw, lively and inclusive free space that actually works in everyday life. Now we are looking for our new daily manager. You should neither overturn our world nor shroud us in long strategy plans. You should support the environment, create a safe structure, and be present in the midst of it all.

WHAT DOES THE TASK ENTAIL?

PRESENCE IN DAILY LIFE: You are not tucked away behind a closed door in an office. You are present here, accessible and a stable gathering point in an environment with many unconventional existences.

Solid ground under your feet: You build and maintain the frameworks and the structure that allow chaotic creative drive and difficult days to unfold, without the place toppling.

Operations and staff: You take care of the concrete work, you have personnel responsibility, draw up the rosters and dive into the light daily administration.

You report to a fixed person on the board. Right now we have an acting chair, and when a new chair has been found, it will be decided whom you will report to exactly.

If you wish and are able, you will eventually have the opportunity to engage in development projects, grant applications and new initiatives. But right now the focus is on creating stability and presence in the shared environment.

WHO ARE YOU?

Your exact educational background is irrelevant. Maybe you are a nurse, a social educator, or trained in health and human services? Maybe you are a craftsperson, an artist or used to working with materials, workshops and creative processes? Maybe you are a tradesperson with an eye for organization? Maybe you have no leadership experience but would like to gain it?

The decisive factor is your backbone and your humane attitude

• You know the target group: You have real understanding and respect for people with severe mental illnesses. You must remember that this is our place, and we are your employer.
• You have patience and edge: You are kind, inclusive and highly tolerant. At the same time you have the backbone to stand firm, to get to know our everyday life inside out and defend MMA's framework when it matters.
• You are open: We have room for everyone regardless of faith, gender or disability. (If you have personal experience from psychiatry, that's fine, but it's not itself an advantage, because up here we have more than you).

CONDITIONS AND FRAMEWORK

Working hours: The baseline is 37 hours per week, placed in or around our opening hours. Alternatives can be negotiated.

Background checks: We obtain references and a criminal record check. Your criminal record may have a blemish, the board just needs to know the history behind it.

We will obtain one reference.

Start date: As soon as possible.
