About the University Hospital for Companion Animals

At the University Hospital, we teach and research diseases in companion animals.

The hospital is open around the clock, and our veterinary students are on duty around the clock in all our departments. It is the veterinarians who have the primary responsibility for teaching, but as a VSP you also involve them in your work, and supervise them in acquiring practical clinical skills.

We offer you to become part of one of our dynamic and multidisciplinary teams. You will receive thorough training and the opportunity to become a highly skilled veterinary nurse with daily sparring with your skilled and engaged colleagues.

Reception

The tasks in reception primarily involve general reception work, general clinical practice, dermatology, cardiology and exotic hobby animals. Working hours are mainly during the day, but there are also reception shifts with working hours until 20:00 on weekdays and on weekends/holidays between 9:00 and 14:00.

Surgery

The tasks in surgery involve mainly anesthesia and care of admitted surgical patients. In addition, there are some specialist units such as rehabilitation, dentistry (odontology) and the sterilization central.

Medicine

The tasks in medicine entail internal and emergency medicine, as well as the hospital's procurement/inventory management. There are also some specialist units, such as neurology, oncology and the emergency department.

For surgery and medicine there are rotating working hours including ER shifts in the evenings, nights, weekends and holidays to varying extents.

Salary and employment terms

Employment is according to the OAO national collective agreement as well as the organizational agreement “Warehouse – and Trade Workers in the Capital Region”. Compensation follows the state’s working time rules; in addition, compensation for shifts outside ordinary working hours will be according to the general working time agreements for the area.
