Become a doctor in the GP's night on-call service

The Pre-hospital Emergency Department is seeking physicians with general or acute medical competencies for consultation and triage in the GP on-call Night Duty in the Central Denmark Region.

You will become part of a strong multidisciplinary team where collaboration, shared responsibility, sparring and professional respect are essential for solving the tasks.

Your tasks

As a physician in the GP on-call Night Duty, you must be able to fulfill the roles of triage physician and consultation physician.

In triage, you participate in taking telephone and video consultations with the citizens who call in. In addition, you act as a back-up and sparring partner for the nurses in triage and the healthcare professionals on home visits.

In the consultation, you receive and assess a wide spectrum of patients who are telephone-triaged together with the GP on-call nurse in the consultation at Aarhus University Hospital or Region Hospital Gødstrup. You also assist the telephone triage at the start and end of a shift and during peak loads.

Together you ensure that citizens and patients receive competent, timely and relevant help when they contact the GP on-call at night.

Who are we?

The GP on-call Night Duty is a newly developed function that helps citizens in the Central Denmark Region when they need medical help in the period from 23:00 to 08:00 every day of the week.

The function consists of a central triage in Aarhus, consultations in Gødstrup and Aarhus, and three home-visit vehicles that operate across the region from 23:00 to 08:00 seven days a week.

The team around the GP on-call Night Duty is multidisciplinary and consists of doctors, nurses, paramedics, ambulance personnel, dispatch technicians and administrative staff.

In the GP on-call Night Duty, we work based on the values of interdisciplinarity, collaboration and community.

As part of the triage in the GP on-call Night Duty, the Danish GP Triage Index is used as a professional decision-support tool, which helps ensure that triages are performed to a uniform clinical standard.

At the same time, it helps ensure that triages comply with national guidelines and treatment standards issued by the medical associations.

There will always be opportunities for sparring with colleagues or the medically coordinating physician during the entire shift.

We would like you to

• Take at least two 9-hour shifts per month – preferably more.
• Alternatively, a plan for fewer shifts can be arranged after individual assessment.

If you participate in PLO GP on-call, there may be opportunities for exemption from shifts there.

After your start, there may be opportunities for home triage, but this will be agreed upon closer to start date.
