About the job

Would you like to put your professional expertise to use in new ways?

The Pre-hospital unit is looking for doctors with general medical or acute medical competencies for consultation and triage in the Lægevagtens Natberedskab in the Region of Central Denmark.

You will be part of a strong multidisciplinary team where collaboration, shared responsibility, sparring and professional respect are essential for solving tasks.

Your tasks

As a doctor in Lægevagtens Natberedskab you must be able to perform both the role of triage doctor and consultation doctor.

In triage you help handle telephone and video consultations with the citizens who call in. In addition you function as on-call back-up and sparring partner for the nurses in triage and the health professionals on home visits.

In the consultation you receive and assess a wide spectrum of patients who are telephone-triaged together with the night-shift nurse in the consultation at Aarhus University Hospital or Regionshospitalet Gødstrup. You also assist with telephone triage at the start and end of a shift and during peak loads.

Your profile

You thrive as a team player and actively contribute to an environment where doctors, nurses, paramedics and other professional groups work closely together to find the right solution for the patient – even when the pace is high. Together you ensure that citizens and patients receive competent, timely and relevant help when they contact the medical emergency service at night.

We imagine that you

  • Are a trainee specialist or specialist with general practice or acute medicine competencies.
  • Are a team player who values collaboration.
  • Have the desire and ability to work multidisciplinary in a complex healthcare setup.
  • Thrive with independent responsibility and at the same time know when sparring is a strength.
  • Thrive working from a general practice night duty index and feel comfortable in a role where there are clear frameworks and guidelines for workflows and patient treatment.

We value that you are a collegial and collaborative doctor who contributes constructively to joint decisions and a safe working environment – both professionally and personally.

Who are we?

Lægevagtens Natberedskab is a newly developed function that helps citizens in the Region of Central Denmark when they need medical help in the time window 23:00 – 08:00 every day of the week.

The function consists of a central triage in Aarhus, consultations in Gødstrup and Aarhus, and three home-visit vehicles that operate across the region in the time window 23:00 – 08:00 seven days a week.

The team around Lægevagtens Natberedskab is multidisciplinary and consists of doctors, nurses, paramedics, ambulance crews, technical dispatchers and administrative staff.

In Lægevagtens Natberedskab we work based on values of multidisciplinary collaboration, teamwork and community.

As part of triage in Lægevagtens Natberedskab, the Danish Medical Emergency Index is used as a professional decision-support tool, which helps ensure triages are performed under the same professional standard.

At the same time it helps ensure that triages are in accordance with the national guidelines and treatment standards issued by the medical societies.

There will always be opportunities for sparring with colleagues or the medically coordinating physician during the entire shift.

We offer

  • A unique opportunity to help strengthen a newly developed regional function.
  • A working environment with high professional standards and good sparring possibilities.
  • An exciting position with professional responsibility.
  • A high degree of flexibility.
  • Fixed hourly wage - see the pre-agreement for the Region of Central Denmark at: https://laeger.dk/foreninger/overlaegeforeningen/okaftaler/ansat-i-laegevagtennattelaegevagten.
  • Mandatory introductory program with follow-up shifts before start (paid according to the collective agreement).

We would like you to

  • Take at least two 9-hour shifts per month – preferably more.
  • Alternatively, an agreement for fewer shifts can be made after individual assessment.

If you participate in PLO Lægevagten, there may be an opportunity for shift exemption there.

After your start there may be the possibility of home visits, but this is agreed upon further.
