About the job
Do you want to help strengthen the emergency preparedness in Syddjurs Municipality?
We are seeking an emergency preparedness coordinator who can create coherence, ensure progress and translate plans into action – both in the municipal organization and in collaboration with the local community.
How do we ensure that the municipality can maintain its essential functions when a crisis strikes? And how do we strengthen collaboration with citizens, businesses, utility companies and authorities so we are better prepared for the challenges of the future?
These are some of the questions you will help answer as our new emergency preparedness coordinator.
In Syddjurs Municipality we have a strong focus on strengthening our overall emergency preparedness. We have already initiated a number of concrete initiatives, and now we are looking for a colleague who can bring the threads together, create an overview and ensure that our plans and initiatives are translated into solutions that work in practice.
You will be organizationally placed in the Management Secretariat and Business with a wide contact surface to the municipality's leadership, departments and external partners.
A central role in the development of the municipality's emergency preparedness
As the emergency preparedness coordinator you will have an important role in coordinating and further developing Syddjurs Municipality's overall emergency preparedness effort.
You do not need to solve all emergency tasks yourself. Your main task will be to ensure coherence and progress in the work and to support the many employees, managers and collaborators, each of whom is responsible for different parts of the emergency response.
Your tasks will include
- Coordinate the work on the municipality's 12 initiated project tracks in the emergency area and ensure progress and the implementation of concrete solutions, including emergency power, emergency communication and a dispatch system.
- Coordinate development, updating and maintenance of the municipality's emergency plans and ensure coherence between the plans of the different departments.
- Develop and maintain a common annual cycle for emergency work, including planning, execution and evaluation of exercises.
- Support the municipality's leadership and departments with advice, coordination and follow-up on emergency responses.
- Facilitate cooperation with relevant authorities, Emergency Services & Safety, utility companies and cross-municipal emergency networks.
- Contribute to developing cooperation with district councils, voluntary associations, businesses and other local actors to strengthen resilience in local communities.
- Take initiative for joint activities and knowledge sharing, for example a local emergency conference that can bring together relevant actors on emergency preparedness and societal security.
You will have a varied workday, where you work with long-term development, concrete projects and practical coordination.
We are looking for a strong coordinator who can make things happen
We imagine that you have a relevant educational background and preferably experience with emergency preparedness, project management, public administration or cross-cutting coordination.
You may have experience from a municipality, another public authority, the emergency sector or a larger organization where you have worked with complex projects and many different stakeholders.
It is an advantage if you have experience with emergency planning and crisis management, but it is not a requirement that you are trained as an emergency specialist. We place just as much emphasis on your ability to create overview, collaborate and ensure results.
We particularly value that you
- Work in a structured and systematic way and can handle many parallel tasks.
- Are a capable project manager and process facilitator who create momentum and follow up on agreements.
- Have good collaboration skills and can build relationships across disciplines, organizational levels and external partners.
- Can translate complex issues into concrete and usable solutions.
- Communicate clearly and precisely – both orally and in writing.
- Are independent, proactive and thrive on developing an area where not all solutions are given in advance.
- It is also an advantage if you have an understanding of working in a politically led organization.
You will become part of the Executive Secretariat and Economic Affairs
You will have your daily base in the Executive Secretariat and Economic Affairs, where we work closely with the municipality's top administrative and political leadership.
Here you will be part of a professional environment where cooperation, coordination and the ability to create coherence across the organization are central elements of the task solution.
The position gives you the opportunity to work with an area of great societal importance, with both political and managerial attention.
You will also have the opportunity to influence the development of the municipality's emergency preparedness work and help create new forms of collaboration, both internally and with actors in the local community.

The position is 37 hours per week with workplace in Syddjurs Municipality.
Salary and terms of employment are set in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and the principles of local pay formation.
