About the job

At the Danish Immigration Service we meet people from all over the world – face to face or through our case processing. We ensure that the right people obtain residence and protection in Denmark on an informed basis.

Welcome to the Danish Immigration Service!

With us you help solve meaningful tasks that matter both for society and for the individual. We are a workplace with high professionalism, informal tone, and strong collegial camaraderie. You will become part of an environment with political attention, where you will be professionally and personally challenged and gain insight into the work of an official in the central administration.

The positions are located in the Center for Asylum in North Zealand, where we are organized into four offices. Three of these offices are looking for students to assist with the work.

Office for Accommodation Conditions and Ukraine is responsible for the Danish Immigration Service's general and concrete legal and administrative tasks regarding accommodation, subsistence and conditions for asylum seekers and foreigners without a legal residence. The office is also responsible for handling cases on residence permits under the Ukraine Special Law and for distributing newly arrived refugees and displaced persons from Ukraine to the country’s municipalities when they receive residence permits.

As a student assistant in the office you will have exciting tasks including

  • preparation of case processing
  • responding to specific inquiries
  • preparation of data material for management information and strategy
  • support the office in a broad sense.

Office for Asylum Cases consists of four units: the AM Unit, the Asylum Unit, the Unit for Special Cases and the Cross-Functional Unit.

The AM Unit is tasked with determining which member state is responsible for processing an asylum application, while the Asylum Unit handles the extended asylum processing. The Unit for Special Cases handles asylum cases involving unaccompanied minor asylum seekers, detainees and persons who have been deported by a court. The Cross-Functional Unit supports the other units and also handles a number of other legal tasks, including processing requests for access to documents and drafting opinions.

As a student in the Office for Asylum Cases you will therefore gain a broad insight into asylum processing. Your tasks will be varied and can include:

  • processing requests for access to documents
  • creating cases
  • sending hearings to relevant member states
  • practical tasks such as mail handling and scanning of files.

Office for Control, Expiry and Quota is responsible for assessing whether a refugee permit can be extended or must be refused an extension, and whether refugee permits have lapsed due to residence abroad.

Your tasks will be to assist caseworkers in answering inquiries from citizens and partners, requests for access to documents, sending files to our appellate body, the Refugee Appeal Board, and in general support the processing of the office's specific cases.

  • be quality-conscious and structured,
  • have good collaboration skills and be good at communicating,
  • have good written Danish and English skills and
  • thrive in a changing daily life, as our tasks are influenced by the outside world and have strong media attention.
