Become a host for Open Atelier at Byens Hus (student assistant 6 hours per week)

Do you know the feeling of stepping into a room where someone has already noticed you before you managed to find a chair? That feeling is what we want to give all young people who come to Open Atelier. Therefore we are looking for a youth host with a natural eye for people.

About the position

We are looking for a student assistant for Open Atelier in Byens Hus in Gentofte. Here young people meet about their own projects, new materials and workshops.

You will become the familiar face at Open Atelier. The one who welcomes, gets to know the members and makes new people feel at home. You bring curiosity, initiative and creative energy into daily life and help create life around the workshops, social evenings and the house's creative events.

You have a eye for people and a desire to make things happen together with them. You grab an idea, invite more people and help translate it into an activity, a meeting or a joint project.

You work closely with our artistic culture developer Elsebeth, who has the overall responsibility and is your fixed sparring partner. Your task is hosting: the mood, the relationships and the community.

In addition, you will be a link to the art and craft festival SKAB, where Open Atelier can contribute content, and where new young people can find their way into the community. And you will become a natural resource person when we connect new young people and partners to art and craft in the house.

What you will do

Your fixed base is Open Atelier, where you are host on a fixed weekday from 16-20 . Your tasks are to:

• Welcome new members, show them around and follow up on their first visit.
• Help with social evenings, workshops and artist visits — from preparation and materials to cleaning up.
• Develop small activities together with the members and help their ideas forward.
• Create short posts for social media, invitations and stories from the atelier's everyday life.
• Contribute as a host at selected exhibitions, creative events and joint art projects elsewhere in the house.

We prioritize the tasks together so they fit your working hours. Open Atelier is your main task.

We imagine that you

• are good at meeting people and bringing everyone into the community
• Take initiative, keep your appointments and also tackle the practical things
• have a calm and clear presence
• are artistically curious, but do not need to be a trained artist
• enjoy being with young people and building bridges between people
• Maybe have helped at a festival, been active in an association or brought others together around a creative project. We would like to hear about it.

The position may particularly suit you if you are taking a gap year or studying at a higher education, but it is not required.

About Byens Hus

Byens Hus is Gentofte Municipality's cultural house and a gathering place for co-creation, communities and democracy. Most activities are citizen-driven, and our team supports them together with the house's many co-creators. We work regeneratively and mission-driven with transparency, shared leadership and a strong team spirit.

The house is in the middle of a major renovation, which will open it up further, and we will reopen gradually during the spring. You will come in from the beginning when Open Atelier finds its new home.

A bit about the practicalities

• The host position starts in early 2027 by agreement.
• Application deadline is 23 November 2025
• We will hold interviews on 8 and 9 December
• Workplace: Byens Hus, Hellerupvej 20, 2900 Hellerup.
• Working hours are 6 hours per week and, as a rule, distributed as:
• 4 hours hosting Open Atelier on a fixed weekday 16-20
• 2 hours for preparation, ad hoc tasks, etc.
• Salary and employment terms are covered by the Agreement for Gentofte Municipality within the negotiation area of Gentofte Municipal Association, entered into between KL and Gentofte Municipal Association. Salary is set to:
• Monthly salary grade 14: 4,370 DKK
• Hourly wage: 168.10 DKK including base salary supplement
• The employment is conditional on satisfactory child and public criminal background checks.
