ABOUT THE POSITION

The Child and Family Counseling in Vesthimmerland Municipality works with statutory tasks in the children and youth area. We work with children, youths and families in vulnerable and complex life situations, where our work takes its starting point in the best interests of the child and close collaboration with family, networks and partners across the municipality.

The Department has undergone a development process and now stands with a new organization, where we strengthen the team structure, clarify roles and responsibilities and work purposefully to create better coherence, stronger professional direction and more present leadership in everyday life.

We are currently seeking four child and adolescent counselors for Social Team North, where there are three permanent positions plus one temporary position as a maternity cover.

You should want to be part of a professional community where we work with children, youths and families who need support under the Child Act. Cases may involve assessment, child-specific investigations, supportive measures or placement.

There is close follow-up in collaboration with the child, the family, the network and relevant partners. The counselors have, among other things, presence time at schools to support the crucial cross-professional collaboration, which here with us is named the Vesthimmerland Model.

YOUR PROFILE

In the Social Team we work with statutory tasks in the children and youth area, where the child and adolescent counselors follow the cases closely and work with both the child’s perspective, the family’s situation and the legal framework. It requires professional depth, overview and the ability to prioritize in a everyday life with many tasks.

You will become part of an area with high complexity, where professional judgments, legislation, relational work and written documentation must go hand in hand. It requires systematically, curiosity and the ability to build good collaborative relationships with children, youths, parents and partners.

We expect you to have the following competencies

• You are trained social worker or social tailor (socialformidler)
• You can work in DUBU or have good technical flair to learn it
• You can – or want to learn – work according to ICS
• You can stand in the statutory role while simultaneously creating good relations with children, youths and families
• You have an eye for the child’s or the youth’s perspective and can actively involve the child in their own case
• You can work systematically with assessments, child-related investigations, goals, follow-up and documentation
• You can structure your day and maintain calm when something unpredictable arises
• You are good at collaborating with families, networks, schools, day care and other partners
• You have good writing skills and can formulate professional assessments clearly and precisely
• You contribute positively to the collegial community and enjoy being part of a team

It would be an advantage if you have experience from the statutory area in the children and youth field. We are however also open to newly educated candidates.

ABOUT CHILDREN'S AND FAMILY COUNSELING

The Child and Family Counseling is part of the Family Department in Vesthimmerland Municipality, which also includes the Family House, the Addiction Department, the Dental Service, the Center for Psychology and Pedagogy as well as the Center for Child and Youth Health.

The department consists of two Social Teams, Social Team South and Social Team North, a Special Team and a Visitation. Visitation handles assessment of notifications, screenings and urgent case steps. Social Team South and Social Team North work with social cases concerning children and youths aged 0-18 years, including interventions under the Child Act § 32, placements and adoptions.

In addition, the department has an Administration where lawyers and administrative staff handle, among other things, personnel administration, legal sparring in cases, case processing in connection with complaints, professional supervision, contract negotiations, management information and service to the Children and Youth Committee.

The Child and Family Counseling will continue in autumn 2026 with the upcoming organizational changes of the department, including the team structure between Social Team North, Social Team South, Visitation and the current Youth Team. You will have the opportunity to hear more about the process at a potential interview.

The department has a total of 38 employees, currently spread over two locations: Aalestrup and Løgstør. Work is currently underway to consolidate the department at one common central location in the municipality, based on a political desire for better coherence and stronger shared professional direction within the department. This also means that your work location may change. A political decision is expected on this on December 1, 2026.

Salary AND EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Salary and employment terms are set in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

The appointment requires a clean child certificate as well as a criminal record certificate, which after a concrete assessment is compatible with the position’s contents.

Since the position involves driving in the municipality, a driver's license and access to your own car are necessary.

Place of work: Løgstør.
