About the job

Children and Family seeks engaged and professionally strong child advisors for the authorities, because we want lower case loads!

The department is organized under the Center for Health, Children and Family. Children and Family consists of an authority and performs, all under the same leader, which provides a solid basis for cross-disciplinary collaboration and a rapid response. We thus rarely have waiting lists, and there is very close follow-up in child cases, which benefits children, young people and families greatly.

We will strengthen our workplace on several parameters and will work purposefully with this in 2027-2028 – the goal is:

A strong culture with room for coziness, community, a tasty Christmas lunch, summer party and staff association, but also a professional community where we strengthen each other’s professional practice.

Trust-based leadership, where we believe that everyone does the best they can. Where there is freedom with responsibility. There is room for professional disagreement and exciting conversations about ethics and morals within our profession.

Professional quality must be top. We want to be a workplace where we take pride in practicing the “profession.” Where we have control of systematically, involvement and deadlines. Where the child or young person is at the center, and we can think creatively and solution-focused.

In Children and Family we work with children and young people aged 0-14 years, and the department consists of about 54 dedicated employees distributed across 7 teams: A front, three children’s teams, a disability team, a team of foster care consultants, and a secretariat.

Our ambition is to deliver social administration of high professional quality, where we work together across roles and competencies toward the same goal – including ensuring that children, young people and their families receive support to stand on their own feet.

We are based in the scenic Præstø. It is expected that during 2027 we will move to the newly built town hall in the city of Vordingborg.

In Vordingborg Municipality we work from five fundamental guiding principles

HOME-BASED – Because home is best, except in very special cases

NETWORK – Because the local environment and the immediate family are invaluable for a child or a young person

UPLIFT – Because all children should feel heard and seen, and because we want to keep focus on what works!

EFFECT – Because it is important that what we do works for the child or the young person

ECONOMY – Because there should be something for everyone

We work in a solution-focused manner and place high value on involving the children and their families.

In Children and Family we place a high value on early intervention and have, among other things, an interdisciplinary Baby1000 team that handles case processing from pregnancy and the first 1000 days of the child’s life.

We expect that you will

  • Have a relevant education – such as a social worker or social pedagogue.
  • Possess strong professional competencies and experience with authority work regarding children, young people and their families and administration of the Child Act.
  • Be good at building relationships and have an empathetic, inclusive and solution-focused approach to the work.
  • Be a team player who thrives in a cross-disciplinary environment where the child’s needs are the focus.
  • Be able to work in a structured manner and keep focus on the task.
  • Have an eye for and respect for roles and contribute to making children, young people, parents, colleagues and partners as good as possible so they can contribute to the solutions.

We offer

  • An exciting and challenging position in a municipality focused on professional development, a shared core task and a good working environment.
  • Close leadership and support with team leaders, a lawyer, a professional consultant and a coordinator who are closely involved in daily work.
  • Small teams with room for good professional discussions.
  • Few cases per employee – on average 25 cases per advisor after 1.1.28.
  • Mentoring, case supervision and case reviews.
  • Opportunity for flexible planning of work tasks and the possibility of flex time and remote work.
  • Participation in Task Force courses starting in April–June 2027.
  • A strong and engaged team of colleagues, a lawyer, a professional consultant, a coordinator, foster care consultants, administrative colleagues, management consultants and managers.
  • A workplace where there is room for both professionalism, humor and not least Thursday cake.

Application deadline: 5.11.2026. Interviews are expected to be held on an ongoing basis.

For appointment on 1.12.2026 or as soon as possible.

Positions are permanent, 37 hours per week.

If you have any questions about the positions, you are welcome to contact the Head of Children and Family, Anja Sigvard Hjorthskov at telephone 29 61 73 13. Feel free to text if you want to be called back.
